Dynamic Boobs - THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE

This Halloween, Found on Shelf ventures into the woods with returning guest Bitter Karella, author of Moonflow and the new queer folk horror novel Quaint Folk, to tackle the cult horror-comedy There's Nothing Out There (1991)! Before Scream made self-aware horror cool, director Rolf Kanefsky unleashed a low-budget creature feature about horny teenagers, a murderous alien frog, and one insufferable horror nerd who knows every scary movie cliché but somehow remains completely useless. What follows is less a traditional horror movie review and more an increasingly unhinged investigation into the strange, slimy, and surprisingly horny history of B-movies. In this Halloween horror spectacular: Is There's Nothing Out There a forgotten precursor to Scream, or proof that being first doesn't mean being good? Why does everyone agree that Mike desperately needs to die? Bitter Karella reveals the bizarre true story behind Mood Boobs, a crowdfunded fetish comedy featuring practical breast-enlargement effects. We explore director Rolf Kanefsky's fascinating journey through low-budget horror, science fiction, and erotic cinema. Is this alien frog trying to murder people, impregnate them, or just find love? Could There's Nothing Out There secretly be Thursday the 12th, the missing chapter of Friday the 13th? And can we convince Rolf Kanefsky to direct a film adaptation of Moonflow? Plus, Bitter introduces Quaint Folk, their satirical queer folk horror novel about an obnoxious American family visiting a suspiciously charming British island. Think The Wicker Man, but with more reasons to distrust everyone. Meanwhile, Gimcrack struggles to maintain control of the podcast, Dustin discovers some unsettling truths about his own DNA, and Patrick continues to exist. Allegedly. Hobo-MurderMaxxing - RETURN TO SILENT HILL

Got Resident Evil fever? Take a wrong turn into Silent Hill. This week on Found on Shelf, guest host Casey joins the crew for “Hobo-MurderMaxxing,” a spoiler-filled Return to Silent Hill review featuring an intervention for Gimcrack, an exorcism that backfires, and some deeply questionable attempts to help a friend. With Zach Cregger’s new Resident Evil movie feeding our appetite for survival horror, we’re digging into another video game adaptation—and asking how Christophe Gans’ return measures up to Silent Hill 2. From Pyramid Head and monstrous nurses to James Sunderland’s baggage, we unpack the scares, the baffling choices, and what gets lost when psychological horror goes Hollywood. Meanwhile, Gimcrack’s friends would really appreciate it if he spent less time in hell. Their solution? An intervention. Their backup plan? An exorcism. Their qualifications? Unclear. Come for the movie discussion. Stay because the doors are locked.

TERF the Magic Dragon - DRAGONHEART VENGEANCE

The Jackalope is back—and apparently therapy has taught them absolutely nothing. This week on Found on Shelf, Specc joins us for Dragonheart: Vengeance, the fifth movie in the Dragonheart franchise and the 2020 direct-to-video fantasy sequel nobody realized they were missing. A young man sets out to avenge his murdered family with the help of a mysterious sellsword and Siveth, an ice-breathing dragon voiced by Helena Bonham Carter. Sounds straightforward. Unfortunately, Siveth is also a vegetarian pacifist who can transform into a horse, dog, cat, and mouse, the villains feel like rejected Mortal Kombat characters, and the whole adventure plays like somebody found an unfinished fantasy RPG, deleted every side quest, and left in all the walking. Along the way, we discuss the increasingly inexplicable Dragonheart franchise, bargain-bin Johnny Depp, dragon gender essentialism, suspicious assassins, Linkin Park and Evanescence, direct-to-video sequel economics, and whether this entire story should have just been a PS2 game. By the end, we may not be able to explain what happened in Dragonheart: Vengeance. We will not apologize. Welcome to TERF THE MAGIC DRAGON. Found on Shelf: Technically a Movie Podcast.
