About Founders Club

House of Interesting Women is a podcast about fascinating women and the lives they’ve built. Each episode is an intimate conversation with women doing interesting things — founders, creatives, artists, tastemakers and people whose careers, ideas and stories we want to know more about. We talk ambition, work, relationships, identity, reinvention, success, failure, and all the strange little decisions that shape a life. HOIW is less about having everything figured out and more about finding out how interesting women actually got here. Come in. Stay awhile. Instagram: @houseofinterestingwomen

Low Libido in Women Doesn't Mean You're Broken, with Rachel Tucker of Smooch

What's wrong with me? It's a question so many women ask themselves and almost never say out loud. Rachel Tucker, founder of Smooch, built a business around answering it. Low libido in women is far more common than most of us are told, and it rarely feels normal when it's happening to you. Rachel decided to stop treating it as a secret. Smooch is an alcohol free functional drink made to be shared, for couples who feel modern life getting in the way of the spark. When I asked how it felt to launch something this personal, she didn't say excited. Her answer is the part of this episode I keep coming back to. If you've ever kept something to yourself because it felt like proof you were broken, this conversation is for you. We get into how she's taking a drink to market in nine months while working a full time job, how she finds the fun in a taboo category without breaking the rules, why before you have a product you are the product, and the ingredient that made her first blend taste like curry. She also brought Smooch with her, so this is the first time I've ever tasted a guest's product on the show. When we recorded, Smooch was weeks from launch. It's now available at smoochdrinks.com (http://smoochdrinks.com) IN THIS EPISODE: 0:00 The question so many women ask themselves and never say out loud 0:29 Meet Rachel Tucker and Smooch 2:24 How to launch a drink in nine months while working a full time job 4:53 Why low libido is so common, and why it still feels so lonely 7:59 How to make a taboo product fun without breaking the rules 10:35 Why before you have a product, you are the product 10:58 Why launching something this personal felt like grief 12:57 What it feels like to be scared every day before a launch 14:28 How she found a biochemist, and the ingredient that tasted like curry 16:48 Tasting Smooch for the first time 19:55 Who Rachel is outside the business, and why smart women need dumb TV 22:58 A People's Choice win, 120 strangers, and what comes next _________________________________ Now I'd love to hear from you. How to Become a More Interesting Woman: The Trope Method

How do you become a more interesting woman? This year I stopped trying to become prettier, fitter or more productive, and started with one question: who do I want to be mistaken for?In this solo episode, I share the trope method, the goal setting process I've used all year. I chose a woman whose life made me lean in, kept her skills, left the fantasy, and turned what she knows into small weekly habits I could actually keep. I talk about learning Italian in 40 minutes a week, how kickboxing changed the way I see my body, the nonfiction book club that sharpened how I think, and the goal I hated so much I walked away halfway through. If you want personal growth that doesn't ask you to fix yourself, this one is for you. We get into how to set goals you'll actually keep, how to choose a trope and why it isn't cosplay, and why quitting a goal can teach you more than keeping it.Pretty isn't the point. Being interested in your own life is.IN THIS EPISODE:Why pretty isn't the pointWhat actually makes a woman interestingHow to choose your trope, and why it isn't cosplayThe woman I chose, and the parts of her I left behindThe questions that reveal who you really want to beHow to turn a trait into a goal you'll actually keepLearning Italian in 40 minutes a weekKickboxing, and learning to see my body as a toolThe goal I hated so much I walked away halfway throughThe book club that made me sharper, and the women I met thereWhy this works better than normal goal settingHow to start your own trope this weekNow I'd love to hear from you. Who is your trope? A character, a real woman, someone you'd love to be mistaken for. Tell me in the comments, and tell me what you'd like me to talk about in a future episode._________________________________ Now I'd love to hear from you. Who is your trope? Being Underestimated as a Female Founder: Sophie Auyeung, founder of Myrrar

I sat down with Sophie Auyeung, founder of Myrrar, to talk about what happens when a room decides not to take you seriously and you build the company anyway. Sophie is a female founder building a beauty tech app that recommends makeup products and techniques for your unique face. She is doing it in startup rooms that still skew male, as a woman of color, pitching a beauty product to people who don't always see the point. I asked her what she does with that. Her answer is not the polished version, and it's the part of this episode I'd hate for you to miss. If you're building something of your own, or quietly thinking about it, this conversation is for you. We get into how to build a beauty tech startup, how to hire a tech co-founder, how to host your first event with no budget, how to build a community on WhatsApp, what American startups do differently from Australian ones, and how she won her first pitch competition. She also explains why she would rather sell a mission than an app, and why she thinks every founder should settle the business model first. Before your next big room, hear how she carries being underestimated. I think it will change how you think about it. This is my first in person episode, and the first under House of Interesting Women. IN THIS EPISODE: 0:00 - The day she left the house in full makeup and only saw the damage in the photos 3:58 - Inside Myrrar: the face scan that reads your undertone and face shape 6:00 - The warning that her vibe coded app would collapse, and the one event that led her to a tech co-founder 7:14 - How she filled her first event with no budget and no experience, including DMing her old high school classmates 13:06 - Why she built a WhatsApp community instead of chasing Instagram comments 15:40 - What American startups do differently, and the smart way to get other people to spread your word 19:00 - The pitch that looked effortless and took dozens of rehearsals in a mirror 22:11 - The real answer to being underestimated in rooms that skew male _________________________________ Now I'd love to hear from you. Sophie also invites you into the Myrrar Inner Circle, her WhatsApp community of early believers.
