Fraud on the Farm is a true crime podcast exploring the biggest fraud schemes in American agriculture. From multimillion dollar federal investigations and crop insurance scams to USDA fraud, financial deception, and shocking courtroom battles, each episode breaks down how the schemes worked, who was behind them, and what happened when the truth came to light.
Using court records, government documents, and investigative reporting, we uncover the stories that changed lives, reshaped industries, and exposed the vulnerabilities within America's agricultural system.
Thousands of pigs. Millions in government payments. One problem—the pigs never existed.
In Episode 6 of Fraud on the Farm, we investigate the case of Iowa farmer Tanner James Seuntjens, whose elaborate scheme involving fake livestock, forged documents, and fraudulent agricultural payments unraveled into something far more sinister.
From exploiting pandemic relief programs to forging bank checks and concealing crop harvests, Seuntjens built a web of deception that eventually escalated into stalking and witness intimidation.
The result? A 13-year federal prison sentence and more than $1.7 million in restitution.
How did he get away with it for so long?

Bait & Switch - Manna Source Sustainable Scheme
What happens when the promised buyers never show up, but the fish keep growing?
In Episode 5 of Fraud on the Farm, we investigate the story of Manna Source Sustainable, an operation led by Jerry Wayne Myers and Gary Warlick that promised farmers a new source of income raising tilapia. Investors were told major retailers and international markets were waiting: Costco, Kroger, Whole Foods, Saudi Arabia, Dubai—and even cargo planes supposedly ready to haul away the harvest.
But the big contracts never materialized.
Farmers were left with thousands of fish, enormous utility bills, questionable equipment, and nowhere to sell what they had raised. When the tilapia operation began to unravel, the promises shifted again—this time to quail eggs and an alleged booming cruise-line market.
By the time regulators stepped in, investigators said more than $1 million had been taken from at least 100 investors. For some victims, the money they eventually recovered amounted to only pennies on the dollar.
It was an agricultural opportunity built on extraordinary promises, and when those promises collapsed, farmers were the ones left holding the tanks.
