FrenchLearner Word of the Day: "la rue" (street, road)
<p>Today's FrenchLearner Word of the Day is: "la rue", which means both street and road. Example sentences are included in the blog post: <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.frenchlearner.com/french-word-of-the-day/rue/">https://www.frenchlearner.com/french-word-of-the-day/rue/</a>. I'm doing a lesson on this word as many beginners find the pronunciation difficult. You need to pronounce the difficult French R with the U sound as "tu" (you familiar). Listen to the audio and see if you can pronounce it!</p>

<p>Bonjour mes amis! In today's lesson we'll look at the French adverb plutôt, which means rather or instead. This lesson is a bit advanced and some knowledge of the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.frenchlearner.com/grammar/conditional-tense/">conditional tense</a> would be helpful. </p>

FrenchLearner Expression: "Poser un lapin" (to stand somebody up)
<p>Today we'll look at a super fun expression <em>poser un lapin</em>, which means "to stand somebody up in French". The verb <em>poser</em> means to put or to place and the masculine noun <em>lapin</em> means "rabbit". In the late 19th century <em>poser un lapin</em> meant to leave without paying. However, over time it came to mean to stand somebody up or to miss an appointment. </p>
