8 Rules For Mentorship<br />1. When seeking a mentor ask to meet in 2-4 months(recognize their schedule)<br /> - Asking for 30 min<br /> - Asking to be challenged in a specific topic<br />2. Always ask for their calendar<br /> - 2-3 dates that work for them<br /> - Never sending the times that work for me<br /> - Unless you are asked<br /> - “I Value Your Time”<br />3. Always early<br /> - If you are shooting for early and something comes up you are prepared for unexpected problems<br /> - You don’t feel flustered when you get there on top or late<br /> - You may end up with extra time if they are early<br />4. Have questions prepared<br /> - Have 3-4 questions<br /> - Possibly send the questions in advance<br /> - John Maxwell “I will mentor you but you have to ask the questions. If you don’t have questions to ask then we don’t have anything to talk about.”<br /> - Writing questions as from all the content they gave from that meeting<br />5. Always take notes<br /> - “You can’t remember what your mentor told you if you don’t remember what your mentor told you”<br />6. Share a brief update on application from previous meeting<br /> - Positive feedback from resources<br />7.
