Episode 168: THE BROOD (1979) | Cronenberg Made FAMILY TRAUMA Into Body Horror 😳 | Fright Flick FMK
This week on Fright Flick FMK, I’m going old-school with one of David Cronenberg’s early dives into psychological madness and body horror: THE BROOD.
And holy shit… family therapy looks a little different in Cronenberg’s world. 😳
A controversial psychotherapist is treating patients through a technique called psychoplasmics—basically turning buried emotions into physical manifestations.
Sounds healthy.
Meanwhile, a fractured family is falling apart, strange attacks start happening, and the deeper everything goes, the more obvious it becomes that somebody probably should’ve just gone to regular therapy.
I’m watching The Brood from beginning to end, reacting in real time, talking through the creepy shit, the weird shit, the practical effects, the performances, the WTF moments, and everything that makes Cronenberg… well, Cronenberg.
Then the credits roll and it faces The Only Rating System That Matters:

An Irish supernatural/folk-horror film written and directed by John Farrelly, starring Tom Kerrisk and Livvy Hill, 1852 post-Famine Ireland...
A father and daughter.

And something inside the house that apparently doesn’t give a damn about personal space.
An Taibhse has been promoted as the first fully Irish-language horror feature, so I’m genuinely curious to see what this one brings to the table.

Episode 166: WATCH ME SLEEP (2023) | LIVE REACTION & FMK REVIEW
This week on Fright Flick FMK, I’m checking out WATCH ME SLEEP, a British indie horror movie with one of those premises that immediately makes you ask:
Who the hell thought this was a good idea?
After his mother dies, Sean has a coffin-cam installed so he can watch her after she’s buried.
Morbid? Absolutely.
But things get a whole lot worse when the camera starts picking up movement from inside the grave… and Sean begins wondering whether his mother is really alone down there.
So I’m pressing play, reacting in real time, talking through the creepy shit, the questionable decisions, what works, what doesn’t, and whether this slow-burn indie horror gets under my skin or puts me to sleep.
And when the credits roll, there’s only one thing left to do:
