God Is Self-Existent: Why You Can Trust Him
God is eternal, uncreated, and self-existent. He existed before creation and depends on nothing outside Himself. In this episode of New Age to Christ, Doreen Virtue examines the self-existence of God and contrasts the biblical Creator with the impersonal concepts of God found in New Age and New Thought spirituality. Doreen explains how beliefs such as non-duality blur the biblical distinction between God and His creation. Scripture instead reveals the eternal God, whose wisdom, knowledge, power, and existence are entirely His own. Because God is self-existent and sovereign, Christians can trust Him when life feels uncertain. We do not need to tell God how to answer our prayers or carry every burden ourselves. God Does Not Need Us: The Self-Sufficiency of God
New Age spirituality frequently teaches that human beings are "co-creators" with God or that God needs our experiences in order to learn and grow. Scripture teaches the opposite. God possesses everything He needs within Himself. He is eternal, sovereign, independent, and completely self-sufficient. In Week 50 of New Age to Christ, Doreen Virtue explains how this attribute of God frees Christians from the exhausting burden of trying to control everything, rescue everyone, or earn God's favor through good works. Because God lacks nothing, His grace, wisdom, love, and strength will never be exhausted. We obey God because we love Him and have been saved through faith in Jesus Christ, not because God needs something from us.
