Fuel is a powerful and necessary substance in our lives. We depend on fuel in the practical aspects of daily living. Our cars, lawnmowers, kitchen appliances, hot water heaters, grills, and so much more depend on a reliable source of clean fuel in order to function properly. Our bodies also need a reliable source of clean fuel to give us health and sustenance. The food we eat determines our quality of life and well-being. Without the right food, or fuel, we become ineffective or possibly even die. God’s Word can be considered the cleanest and most reliable source of fuel in our lives. Scripture continually reminds us of the power and effectiveness of God’s Word. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 states “all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may competent equipped for every good work.” God has chosen to reveal Himself to us through His Word and calls us to be faithful stewards. We also know from John 1:1 “in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” This passage continues in John 1:14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Jesus Christ is the Word Incarnate. God has given us a gift, His Word. We must use it as means to push us towards the things of God. We must use it to grow in our relationship with the Lord and empower us for His Kingdom. The importance of God’s Word is what has pushed us to create a new community gathering in Murrells Inlet.
