Full Warning Episode 12: Tom Basketball Wins It All!

2025 NA Legacy Champion Tom Basketball joins for an EXCLUSIVE interview! He opines on the mistake of Vexing Bauble and the power of The One Ring. Featuring the premiere of "Movie Magic", our new trivia game! Plus, The Swag Corner. Chapters 00:00:00 - Do Ya Thing - Katty K. Wielding an ultra-powerful colorless deck that wins via insurmountable taxing effects alongside disruptive permanents and a combo-like finisher in the form of Glaring Fleshraker, Bryan was able navigate a massive field over 15 swiss rounds and an epic Top 8, to emerge as the 2025 Champion. Beating several former Champions along the way, we talk through Bryan's journey, not just at Eternal Weekend 2025, but back to his roots; when did Tom Basketball start turning cardboard sideways? From magic-league.com to Romancing the Stones, Bryan's journey mirror's many of our own--Except he knew Swords to Plowshares was good (he IS a Legacy player, after all). This episode also features the premiere of my "Movie Magic" game. Tom Basketball knows Legacy, but does he know his movies? We pit him against the B.C. Druid in a game I've been working on for a while but just didn't really have together until now. It's actually still coming together, but I hope you enjoy it and I welcome your feedback for future tuning! I look forward to hosting this game again, so I can clarify the rules and host it correctly. I have lots of clues in the can already. Our outro is my Eternal Weekend 2025 Hype Track, Babality-MixtapeEdit. I grabbed the base beat off of LNPlusmusic (https://www.youtube.com/@INPLUSMUSIC)because of the very nice cuts on the track; I love a good turntablist routine. I really wanted to create a "Hip-Hop song with MtG elements", not a "MtG Hip-Hop Song Parody". I think I was pretty close to the mark. The vocals are rough bc I don't know how to fix them really; look out for some "real" songs from the two of us (B.C. Druid is the real musician) in 2026. Thanks for listening! 100K Baby! Full Warning Episode 11: June B&R Again! Plus, Final Fantasy at OKC Land Run Vintage

As we barrel towards KSI2 and EW, Mike Solymossy and Jimmy McCarthy join us to say crazy things about the Vintage B&R! Mike recaps his Land Run T8 with Vivi! Angelo says, "Listen at your own risk". Featuring the Swag Corner. Originally recorded 2025.07.22. Chapter List 00:00:00 - Do Ya Thing - Katty K. Intro 00:01:05 - BC Druid - What up? 00:03:00 - Soly - Who are you? And What Are You Doing Here? 00:10:06 - Bring in da Jimmy, Bring in da Funk 00:12:00 - "Who will win episode 11?"; or "Another one wrong for Jimmy" 00:20:16 - Team Serious Middle School Intercontinental Championship at The Land 6 00:21:40 - RBG Goblins - A Champion's Deck Choice 00:27:15 - MS Tournament Recap with Jimmy 00:39:00 - Vivi in Oklahoma; or "Listen At Your Own Risk" 00:57:00 - On Drawing in a Competitive REL Tournament and Making Top 8 01:02:00 - Should Angelo Play This Deck? 01:04:45 - June B&R Again; or "More Unhinged Opinoins, Generating Engagement" 01:22:25 - Emergency Changes - Anything before EW? 01:27:30 - Our Totally Official, Unqualified Suggestion For Un-Restriction 01:2922 - The Swag Corner 01:39:02 - Final Thoughts 01:41:10 - "A masterclass on the mind of a competitive man." or; "You have been warned" 01:41:40 - Outro - Louis Slipperz - £10 Bag Mixtape - Untitled - Jehst, Mystro, Braintax - Permission pending, all rights reserved by their original owners. Show Notes With the recent 'no changes' decision (https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/banned-and-restricted-june-30-2025) for the B&R, the Vintage community is seemingly left with the format that they are going to get for Eternal Weekends 2025. Now, given this stance and not expecting changes before Eternal Weekend, what can Vintage players come up with to complain about? Un-restrictions, of course! Mike Solymossy forgot his powerpoint slides, but he digs pretty deep into the crates to review THIRTEEN cards that he says should be unrestricted. We then pull out Jimmy's list from his last appearance (https://teamserio.us/posts/20240416_Full-Warning-Episode-4-HSI-7-Vintage-BR-and-Columbus-Food-Talk) on the show and compare some notes with the current format, and finally come up with "Our Totally Official, Unqualified Suggestion For Un-Restriction". Hint: It rhymes with "Bog Broth's Chill". Skip ahead if that's what you came for! We start things off hot with a head-to-head game between our guests, to determine right away the "Winner of Episode 11". Find it here (https://www.sporcle.com/games/argentpenguin/magic-the-gathering---real-cards-or-not) and play along! Next, we give Jimmy a chance to respond to his haters (Angelo) and regale us with his tales of glory and dominance. Jimmy captured the prestigious Team Serious Middle School Intercontinental Championship (https://melee.gg/Tournament/View/281771) at The Land 6 using his (Jaco's) trusty Rbg Goblins to dominate a field that really just wasn't ready for the little green guys. Check out the VODs here (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7mT2eVHGBPFgqvfgViuIR4hF7rp-0_wX&si=u2T5t8iarZs-t0K5). And since we are ostensibly a Vintage magic podcast, we made sure to include some relevant content! Podcast newcomer-cum-Vintage magic veteran Mike Solymossy joins us to review his T8 Final Fantasy blue brew (https://www.melee.gg/Decklist/View/a9fc8957-6be0-4849-92a2-b31f0000b0e0), featuring Vivi Orintier (https://scryfall.com/card/fin/248/vivi-ornitier)! Mike takes us through a little bit of his magical journey and how he got back into Vintage magic in more recent years, after selling out of Vintage cards 10 years ago. He brings us up to date on his current take and approach to Magic, having recently attended also The Land 6, and noting the old truism: "The best part of Magic is the gathering"!His new approach has lead him back to some familiar territory: making the top 8. Mike goes in depth with a review and analysis of the deck's angles, lines, and construction philosophies, which any serious Magic player will appreciate. Finally, we visit the Swag Corner, where we discuss things Summer and Foil, but decidedly not both. Outro is by Louis Slipperz (https://www.discogs.com/artist/263630-Louis-Slipperz). Permision pending, all rights reserved by their original owners. WAFWHF Links Robin's Swag Deck (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIFhAhol5jo)

Full Warning Episode 10 - June B&R and The Land 6 Wrap Up - with guest Duane Haddix

Land 6 Vintage Champ Duane Haddix joins us to review the June B&R and recap his winning run! Plus, soundboard fun, Angelo is Towlie and Rajah's new obsession, all on the latest episode of Full Warning. Chapter List 00:00:00 - Do Ya Thing - Katty K. Intro 00:00:22 - 4th of July Check In 00:02:18 - The Main Idea - Welcome Duane 00:02:55 - The Spirit of the Land - How to Top 8 00:04:50 - Soundboard Fun - Duane's Last Appearance 00:09:18 - June Vintage Banned and Restricted Announcement 00:20:48 - Tezzeret - Cruel Captain 00:36:00 - Duane's Deck "Saga" and Vintage Recap 00:49:25 - Rajah and Angelo's Vintage Decks 00:53:55 - Deck Prospects for Eternal Weekend 00:55:44 - Different EW Meta Games??; or "The Gang Does Lucca" 01:01:55 - The Land 6 Food Talk aka Event Improvement Survey 01:06:25 - The Doritos Dust Debate 01:08:50 - DuaneTime!! 01:13:55 - On Sandwich Punch and More Punchable Bread 01:16:58 - Soap Love 01:20:38 - Mastering Chicken Wings - Food Talk Continued 01:26:17 - The Swag Corner 01:29:38 - Draft Super Fight 01:33:17 - The Swag Corner Pt. 2 01:40:13 - Shout out Shaman Ben et. al. 01:41:53 - Angelo - Game 1 Wiener 01:42:23 - The Prizes; or D-List Celebs Galore 01:47:14 - Castmaster: The Land - Season 2 - A 'lil teaser 01:48:48 - Land 6 Final Thoughts 01:51:31 - Outro - oldominion - Precise Danger - used with permission Show NotesWe welcome back guest Duane Haddix, this time as the TSI: Land 6 - Back to Basics Vintage Champion. After some dark times following the restriction of Vexing Bauble (https://scryfall.com/card/mh3/212/vexing-bauble) and Urza's Saga (https://scryfall.com/card/mh2/259/urzas-saga ), Fleshraker (https://scryfall.com/card/mh3/7/glaring-fleshraker) Shops seems to be back! Duane gives all due credit to the online innovator crK (https://www.mtggoldfish.com/player/crK) and other online players, who seem to have found a way forward for this deck, and Duane's commanding performance at The Land 6 (https://melee.gg/Tournament/View/281768) tournament seems to have cemented that. And so the future seems to be a bit brighter this year, as we head into an NA Eternal Weekend 2025 (https://magic.gg/news/announcing-upcoming-rcqs-spotlight-events-eternal-weekends-and-more) that will not include any further scheduled changes to the Vintage B&R (https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/banned-and-restricted-june-30-2025). We dig into everyone's reaction and discuss what we wanted to see vs. what we expected to see. If there were any possible storm clouds threatening this bright future, they might come in the form of a 3 generic mana Planeswalker named Tezzeret, Cruel Captain (https://scryfall.com/card/eoe/2/tezzeret-cruel-captain). Cited in the recent B&R as a reason to NOT make changes in Vintage, this card seems poised to become an immediate Vintage staple, and possibly not just in colorless decks. Will the card be restricted? Will it be restricted before Champs? With the next schedule B&R announcement set to take place between the Eternal Weekends of North America and Europe, will there be two different formats? Hot takes abound in this lively Vintage B&R announcement discussion. As with everything in life, good things can get better, and we take a look at the TSI: The Land suggestion box. Recovery is important! Look out for the survey all you The Land attendees. Finally, as we are wont to do, we check in at the B.C Druid Swag Corner to get the low down on the most swag and ANTI-swag things you can do as a Magic player. Plus, we debut a new format: Draft Super Fight! Outro is by Oldominion and is called Precise Danger (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HLOnGichrE). Full Warning Episode 8: Middle School World Championships and Eternal Weekend NA Preview

TO Eric Caffrey joins us to preview Middle School World Championships at Eternal Weekend! We review the post-restriction Vintage metagame and Asia EW results, plus No Banned List Commander! As primarily paper players who participate only a few times a year, restriction action this close to Eternal Weekend has had a pretty big impact on the hype for the Vintage tournament, especially after our recent pre-restriction TSI. Que sera sera. After a brief discussion of our current magic doings, the online league hosted by Romancing the Stones, Angelo and I dig in to the new landscape of Vintage. We review Eternal Weekend Asia Vintage results, to see what has shifted. Mainly, I rant about what they should have done and when they should have done it. Anyway, it seems like THE CAT still rules the day, and we have no real suggestions for non-cat players, but we do explore some interesting options. And we get a bit emo about deck choices and the reality of playing Vintage only a few times a year. In the second segment, we generate engagement with a shocking reveal; I have been playing CEDH and now, No Banned List Commander. We chat about the recent EDH bans and their impact on Angelo's decks. If you came here for this, check the chapter markers to jump right to the Commander content you crave! For real though, NBL seems pretty fun. Try it out! Proxy up some power and new border cards you don't own and jam with your friends. The final Magic segment is what most people *actually* came here for, where we are joined by Middle School World Championships Tournament Organizer and gravy connoisseur Eric Caffrey. As is usual, Eric takes us off on many tangents, but we get some food suggestions out of it. Check the links for some of his picks. And of course, don't forget to sign up for the Middle School World Championships 2024. Check the links, all information for the tournament is in the registration link. We did come up with a charity to benefit, a suggestion from our friends The Three Rivers Wizards. If you are inclined, we are benefiting The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Donations are not required to register, but check the links for donation information. We close out this episode with the Swag Corner: Food Edition! I talk about stew, Angelo reveals his new Sunday indulgence and Eric reviews his Middle School Thanksgiving tournament with all the fixings. The outro is by onesevenbeatxs, a producer out of India. Yangtime! Journey back with your hosts to a simpler time, when Vexing Bauble and Urza's Saga were played in multiples, *in one deck*! This episode took me a long time to edit, and not just because of the crazy ambient noise levels. This podcast is about a Vintage format that no longer exists, a lame duck format if you will. And so I found it was very unmotivating to edit this podcast, while looking forward to Eternal Weekend; the meta will discuss herein is gone. But we knew we owed to our dedicated fanbase (all 7 of them) to make sure that this show saw the light of day. WAFWHF and such. First we go deep with our guest Steven McGrew, and we learn about his magical background and his journey to Teams Seroius and Vintage. We review Vintage in a play-by-play format and opine on the current (old) state of Vintage, thinking at the time that we are praticing for Eternal Weekend. We review the food, the prize table and the "Retreat in the Woods", Kevin's amazing new home and location of the tournament. And of course, we don't forget the SWAG. The outro song is by Oldominion, a hip-hop group from Seattle. It is from the old mp3.com. I did't get clearance exactly so we'll see if they flag it. The Top 8 recap was slightly re-imagined by Jimmy, apparently smashing his opponents so relentlessly that the beatings all blurred together. While there is written evidence of matches played, we are unsure if the Top 8 Bracket was constructed correctly. Jimmy says it was. 1000% Serious indeed! After that, we solve the Vintage B&R, of course. Here's the list of what we should unrestrict next, according to Jimmy: Merchant Scroll Yawgmoth's Will Necropotence Narset, Parter of Veils Monastery Mentor Thorn of Amethyst I'm not sure what social media you can find him at to yell at him about his hot takes, but you can yell at us on our brand new social handles!
