Wielding an ultra-powerful colorless deck that wins via insurmountable taxing effects alongside disruptive permanents and a combo-like finisher in the form of Glaring Fleshraker, Bryan was able navigate a massive field over 15 swiss rounds and an epic Top 8, to emerge as the 2025 Champion.</p><p><br></p><p>Beating several former Champions along the way, we talk through Bryan's journey, not just at Eternal Weekend 2025, but back to his roots; when did Tom Basketball start turning cardboard sideways?<br></p><p>From magic-league.com to Romancing the Stones, Bryan's journey mirror's many of our own--Except he knew Swords to Plowshares was good (he IS a Legacy player, after all).<br></p><p>This episode also features the premiere of my "Movie Magic" game. Tom Basketball knows Legacy, but does he know his movies? We pit him against the B.C. Druid in a game I've been working on for a while but just didn't really have together until now. It's actually still coming together, but I hope you enjoy it and I welcome your feedback for future tuning! I look forward to hosting this game again, so I can clarify the rules and host it correctly. I have lots of clues in the can already.<br></p><p>Our outro is my Eternal Weekend 2025 Hype Track, Babality-MixtapeEdit. Now, given this stance and not expecting changes before Eternal Weekend, what can Vintage players come up with to complain about? Un-restrictions, of course!</p><p><br></p><p>Mike Solymossy forgot his powerpoint slides, but he digs pretty deep into the crates to review THIRTEEN cards that he says should be unrestricted. We then pull out Jimmy's list from his <a href="https://teamserio.us/posts/20240416_Full-Warning-Episode-4-HSI-7-Vintage-BR-and-Columbus-Food-Talk" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">last appearance</a> on the show and compare some notes with the current format, and finally come up with "Our Totally Official, Unqualified Suggestion For Un-Restriction". </p><p>Hint: It rhymes with "Bog Broth's Chill". Duane gives all due credit to the online innovator <a href="https://www.mtggoldfish.com/player/crK" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">crK</a> and other online players, who seem to have found a way forward for this deck, and Duane's commanding performance at <a href="https://melee.gg/Tournament/View/281768" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">The Land 6</a> tournament seems to have cemented that.</p><p>And so the future seems to be a bit brighter this year, as we head into an <a href="https://magic.gg/news/announcing-upcoming-rcqs-spotlight-events-eternal-weekends-and-more" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">NA Eternal Weekend 2025</a> that will not include any further scheduled changes to the <a href="https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/announcements/banned-and-restricted-june-30-2025" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">Vintage B&R</a>. We dig into everyone's reaction and discuss what we wanted to see vs. what we expected to see. </p><p>If there were any possible storm clouds threatening this bright future, they might come in the form of a 3 generic mana Planeswalker named <a href="https://scryfall.com/card/eoe/2/tezzeret-cruel-captain" target="_blank" rel="ugc noopener noreferrer">Tezzeret, Cruel Captain</a>. Cited in the recent B&R as a reason to NOT make changes in Vintage, this card seems poised to become an immediate Vintage staple, and possibly not just in colorless decks. Will the card be restricted? Will it be restricted before Champs? With the next schedule B&R announcement set to take place between the Eternal Weekends of North America and Europe, will there be two different formats?
