About Future of Life Institute Podcast
The Future of Life Institute (FLI) is a nonprofit working to reduce global catastrophic and existential risk from powerful technologies. In particular, FLI focuses on risks from artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, nuclear weapons and climate change. The Institute's work is made up of three main strands: grantmaking for risk reduction, educational outreach, and advocacy within the United Nations, US government and European Union institutions. FLI has become one of the world's leading voices on the governance of AI having created one of the earliest and most influential sets of governance principles: the Asilomar AI Principles.

Eventually, AI will lead us if not used correctly and not deployed in a way that's just gonna benefit the ruling elite, AI will create us into echoes of echoes of echoes of humans. And the prospect for that is terrifying. You just need to look at, right, okay, you go on a walk, you go out in the mountains, you go out and experience the world, you listen to music, you dance, you feel alive. That is why we're here. We're here to live in this world and experience it. And I feel like how AI is being deployed right now is pulling and stripping the human experience from everything. […]
