SINOSSI EPISODIO - BOLLA PROVIDAS ROMANORUM 1751. Tredici anni dopo la condanna di Clemente XII, voci insidiose circolano in Europa: la scomunica contro i Liberi Muratori sarebbe decaduta? Il nuovo Papa non l'ha confermata? Benedetto XIV risponde con un documento devastante: la "Providas Romanorum". Non una semplice conferma, ma un manifesto che elenca, punto per punto, i cinque motivi teologici e politici della condanna. Indifferentismo religioso, segretezza, giuramenti illeciti, violazione del diritto civile e canonico, cattiva reputazione. Ma la vera novità è l'appello ai sovrani d'Europa: Trono e Altare devono unirsi per schiacciare la Massoneria. La Chiesa invoca il braccio secolare, trasformando una condanna spirituale in una guerra politica. Dal 1751, la lotta contro la Massoneria non è più solo questione di fede. È una crociata che coinvolge Papi, Re e Inquisitori. BOLLA DOGMATICA ”IN EMINENTI” Sulla Condanna della Massoneria
Siamo nel 1738. Le corti d'Europa danzano al ritmo del Rococò, la Ragione si afferma e, nelle città, fioriscono club e società che celebrano la fratellanza, l'uguaglianza e la libertà di pensiero. Ma queste nuove idee non sono viste ovunque con favore, specialmente non sono ben viste a Roma, nella culla millenaria della Cristianità. In quegli anni, le voci su un'associazione che si riuniva in segreto, che imponeva giuramenti inviolabili e che accoglieva i suoi adepti in logge misteriose, si fecero sempre più insistenti. Il suo nome: Massoneria. Ai potenti del Papato, le loro riunioni sembrano un focolaio di eresia, di cospirazione politica e di tradimento. Il Papa regnante è l'anziano Clemente XII, un uomo malato ma ferocemente determinato a difendere l'autorità della Sede di Pietro.Sente che queste società segrete stanno minando le fondamenta spirituali e politiche d'Europa. Il 28 aprile 1738, la risposta di Roma arriva, perentoria e definitiva, sotto forma di un documento destinato a scuotere i rapporti tra Chiesa e società per secoli. Il suo titolo: 'In eminenti apostolatus specula'. Una condanna che non offre scampo, imponendo la scomunica automatica a chiunque vi aderisse.
