The COD Campaign Adventure - Where Did the Magic Go?
Episode Summary:
In this episode, we dive deep into the world of Call of Duty campaigns and take a hard look at Modern Warfare 3 (2023). I’ve been on a wild adventure replaying the old COD campaigns, and it’s made me realize just how far the storytelling and characters have fallen off in recent releases. From copy-paste missions to watered-down villains, what happened to the strong, tactical heroes we once knew? We also discuss Activision’s crackdown on voice chat moderation, which begs the question—when did they become the speech police, and how far will this go?
But it’s not all bad news! There’s still hope for Call of Duty to return to its glory days, and I want to hear your thoughts on the franchise’s future. Stay tuned to the end for a fun community challenge—share your favorite COD campaign mission of all time!
Key Takeaways:
How Modern Warfare 3 (2023) fails in terms of storytelling, cutscenes, and characters.
The problem with copy-paste missions in newer COD releases versus the creativity of older campaigns.
Activision’s crackdown on lobby voice chat and its impact on player freedom.
What makes older COD campaigns special, from epic storytelling to memorable characters.
My hopes for Black Ops VI and what the COD franchise needs to do to regain its magic.
