How to Get Your Game Reviewed by Game Reviewers & News Portals
🎮 How can indie game developers get their games reviewed by game reviewers, gaming journalists and news portals? In this episode of Gamer for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, discuss practical ways indie developers and small game studios can improve their chances of getting discovered, reviewed and covered by gaming media. A good game alone may not automatically attract media attention. Developers also need to make it easy for reviewers and journalists to discover the game, understand it, access it and find a reason to talk about it. In this episode, I discuss: 🎮 How to get your indie game reviewed 📁 How to create a professional game Press/Media Kit 🎯 How to find reviewers who cover your game genre 📰 How to approach gaming journalists and news portals 📩 How to create a personalized game-review pitch 🎮 How to provide review copies professionally 🤝 Why media relationships matter for indie developers 📢 How gaming PR agencies can support game promotion ▶️ How to approach YouTubers, streamers and podcasters 🔎 How SEO and SMO can improve game discoverability 🤖 How GEO can support discovery through AI-powered search ⭐ How Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust can strengthen your digital presence 👥 Why Matching User Interest matters more than simply chasing large audiences 🔑 How relevant long-tail and lower-competition keywords can support discoverability 📈 How one review can lead to more visibility, players and media opportunities Instead of waiting until launch day, indie developers can start building their: Game → Brand → Community → Press Kit → Media Relationships → Discoverability during development. The goal should not only be: “How do I find game reviewers?” It should also become: “How can the right game reviewers discover my game?” That means creating useful content, building a professional digital presence and matching your game with reviewers whose audiences genuinely care about your genre. 🎙️ Gamer for Life explores the Indian gaming industry, indie game development, game marketing, gaming careers, game reviews and the future of game development from an Indian perspective with a global vision. Presented by Santhan Akkulu Good games deserve to be discovered. Make it easier for reviewers, journalists, creators and players to find and talk about yours. #IndieGameDev #GameDevelopment #GameMarketing #GamePR #GameReviews #GamingJournalism #IndieGames #IndianGamingIndustry

How to Grow Your Indie Games Studio from Anywhere | Indie Game Development & Marketing
🎮 How can you grow an Indie Games Studio from anywhere in the world? You don't necessarily need a huge office, hundreds of employees or to live in a major gaming hub to start building an Indie Games Studio. But developing a good game is only the beginning. In this episode of Gamers for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, share my perspective on how solo developers and small Indie Game Studios can build their games locally while working toward a global audience. 🎯 In this episode, I discuss: • How to start and grow an Indie Games Studio • Building a quality game with a small team • PC, console and mobile multi-platform strategies • Indie game marketing and discoverability • SEO and GEO for gaming content • Matching User Interest with relevant niche keywords • Building E-E-A-T through real development experience • YouTube and social media marketing for Indie Games • Building a gaming community instead of only followers • Creating a professional Press/Media Kit • Reaching game reviewers, journalists, creators and streamers • Using gaming PR strategically • Building wishlists, demos and playtesting communities • Localization and reaching global players • Measuring marketing performance and improving over time The key idea is simple: Publishing makes your game available. Discoverability helps players find it. Instead of trying to market your game to everyone, understand the players who are genuinely interested in the type of experience you're creating. A small Indie Games Studio can think globally from the beginning—while growing step by step with the resources it actually has. 🎮 Build locally. Think globally. Publish strategically. Market intelligently. Keep creating. 🎙️ Gamers for Life Hosted by Santhan Akkulu Follow the podcast for more discussions about Indie Game Development, Indie Game Marketing, Gaming Industry trends, Game Reviews, Game PR and the future of gaming. #IndieGameDevelopment #IndieGameStudio #IndieGames #GameDevelopment #GameMarketing

What to Do and What NOT to Do in an Indie Game Studio
🎮 What should you do—and what should you NOT do—when starting or growing an Indie Game Studio? In this episode of Gamer for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, share my perspective on building an Indie Game Studio as a solo developer or small development team. Many new developers dream about creating a huge AAA-quality game. But should a small team really begin with AAA-sized scope? I discuss why Indie developers should start small, control game scope, prototype early, playtest with real players and focus on quality rather than unnecessary size or rushed development. 🎯 In this episode: • How to start small without compromising game quality • Why your first Indie game should have realistic scope • Prototype and vertical-slice development • Why real-player playtesting matters • When to start marketing your Indie game • Creating a professional Press/Media Kit • Building a gaming community before release • Indie game PR and press coverage • SEO, GEO and E-E-A-T for game discoverability • Matching content with player interests • Multi-platform game publishing strategy • Indie game funding, publishers, investors and crowdfunding • Protecting your game IP and creative control • When and how to scale an Indie Game Studio My approach is simple: Idea → Prototype → Player Validation → Audience → PR & Visibility → Funding → Scale Your first game doesn't need to prove that you can compete with a AAA studio. It needs to prove that you can finish a great game that players genuinely want to play. 🎮 Plan Smart. Build Quality. Promote Right. Grow Global. Follow Gamer for Life for discussions about Indie Game Development, the Indian Gaming Industry, gaming careers, game marketing, PR and building a stronger gaming ecosystem. #IndieGameStudio #IndieGameDev #GameDevelopment #IndieGames #GameMarketing

When Should I Get My Indian Indie Game Studio Funded?
When should an Indian indie game studio seek funding—and how much should you prove before approaching investors? In this episode of Gamers for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, share my personal perspective on when Indian indie game developers should consider raising funding and why investment should ideally accelerate something you have already started proving. Should you approach investors with only a game idea? Should you first develop a prototype or vertical slice? Or should you release your first game and demonstrate player traction before seeking larger investment? 🎮 In this episode, I discuss: • Why Indian indie studios should focus on the game before funding • Why a playable prototype or vertical slice can strengthen your funding case • When publisher funding, grants, incubators or investors may make sense • Why player validation matters before scaling • How wishlists, downloads, reviews and community growth can provide evidence • Why shipping a smaller game can build studio credibility • How PR, press coverage and community building can support your studio • Why Indian developers should think strategically about multi-platform development • How to build measurable traction before approaching investors • Why funding should accelerate growth rather than become the purpose of the studio • Why milestone-based funding can help maintain financial discipline • How Indian indie studios can work toward sustainable global growth My philosophy is simple: Build first. Prove something. Find your players. Build your community. Create credibility. Then use funding to multiply what is already working. At the same time, you don't necessarily need to release a complete game before accepting funding. If you already have a convincing prototype or vertical slice, capable team, player validation and realistic production plan, the right development or publisher funding could help turn that proof into a commercially viable game. 🇮🇳 This episode is for Indian indie game developers, gaming startup founders, game-development students, game designers, artists, publishers, investors and anyone interested in the growth of India's game-development ecosystem. 🎙️ Podcast: Gamers for Life 🎤 Host: Santhan Akkulu 🎮 Topics: Indian indie game funding, game studio funding, game development in India, indie game investors, gaming startups, game publishing and Indian gaming industry. Build games. Build proof. Then build bigger.

Why Mayanagari Failed Before Its Release | Indian Gaming Industry
🎮 Why did Mayanagari struggle before its full release, and what can Indian game developers learn from its journey? In this episode of Gamers for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, share my personal perspective on Mayanagari and use its development journey to discuss some of the bigger challenges facing the Indian gaming industry and Indian game-development ecosystem. Mayanagari attracted attention with the ambition of creating an Indian open-world gaming experience. But ambitious ideas also raise important questions about execution, funding, leadership, platform strategy, product validation and audience expectations. In this episode, I discuss: 🎮 What Indian game developers can learn from ambitious projects like Mayanagari 💰 Why funding alone cannot guarantee a successful game 🧪 Why prototypes, gameplay validation and testing matter before scaling 🧠 Why experienced game-development leadership is important 📱 The opportunities and limitations of mobile-first development 🖥️ Why Indian studios should also consider PC and console opportunities 🌍 Why Indian developers should think about global audiences and multi-platform development 🤝 Why community feedback and audience trust matter 🇮🇳 What India needs to build a stronger game-development ecosystem This episode is not intended to establish disputed claims about Mayanagari, its founders or investors as facts. It is my personal analysis and perspective, drawing broader lessons for developers, students, indie studios and gaming entrepreneurs. Can India move from being one of the world's major gaming markets toward becoming a creator of globally recognised games and original gaming IP? That is the bigger conversation. 🎙️ Gamers for Life Hosted by Santhan Akkulu Topics: Mayanagari game, Indian gaming industry, Indian game development, Indian indie games, game development India, Indian game developers, indie game studio India, gaming ecosystem India, mobile gaming India, multi-platform game development.

How to Promote Your Indie Game Studio? | Indie Game Marketing & PR
🎮 How do you promote an Indie Game Studio and help your game reach the right players? Creating a good indie game is only part of the journey. The next challenge is discoverability. In this episode of Gamers for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, share my personal perspective on how indie game developers and studios can build visibility, reach relevant gaming audiences, and develop a long-term studio brand. I discuss: 🎯 Matching User Interest — identifying the players most likely to enjoy your game 🔎 SEO + GEO — improving traditional and AI-powered search discoverability 🧠 E-E-A-T — building Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness 📱 Social Media Marketing — matching content with the right platforms and audiences 📰 Gaming PR — using Press Kits and Media Kits effectively 🎥 Creators & Streamers — finding relevant YouTubers, streamers and gaming creators 👥 Community Building — turning followers into an active gaming community ❤️ Word of Mouth — helping early players become supporters of your game ⭐ Steam Wishlists — building interest before launch 🎪 Game Festivals & Events — creating additional discovery opportunities 🤝 Indie Developer Networking — growing through collaboration rather than isolation 🎮 Multi-Platform Strategy — thinking beyond a single storefront when practical 🌍 Global Game Promotion — taking an Indian indie studio to international audiences 📊 Marketing Analytics — measuring what actually generates players, wishlists and conversions My main message is simple: Don't wait until your game is finished to start marketing it. This episode is especially relevant for indie game developers, Indian game developers, gaming students, indie studio founders, game designers, artists, creators and anyone interested in indie game marketing and the Indian gaming ecosystem. 🎙️ Gamers for Life Podcast Hosted by Santhan Akkulu #IndieGameDevelopment #IndieGameMarketing #GameDevelopment #IndieGameStudio #GameMarketing #GamingPR #IndianGaming #GameDevelopers #IndieGames #GamersForLife

Why PR Helps in Gaming | Indie Game PR, Press Kits & Global Visibility
🎮 Why does PR (Public Relations) matter in gaming? A great game can take months or years to develop—but how will players know it exists? In this episode of Gamer for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, explore how gaming PR can help Indie Game Developers and Indie Game Studios build visibility, credibility, media relationships, and awareness among players. I discuss the difference between Game PR and Game Studio PR, and why both are important for long-term growth. 🎯 In this episode, you will learn: • Why PR is important for Indie Games • How gaming PR differs from traditional business PR • How PR can increase game and studio visibility • Why every Indie Game Studio should prepare a Press/Media Kit • What to include in a Game Press Kit • How journalists, game reviewers, YouTubers, streamers, and podcasters can help people discover games • Why developers should build media relationships before launch • Why sending the same PR pitch to every journalist may not work • How niche creators can help Indie Games reach the right audience • Why Game PR and Studio PR should work together • How Indian Indie Game Studios can communicate their games to international audiences • Why PR supports discovery but cannot guarantee game success 🌍 Indian Perspective, Global Gaming Vision India has talented game developers, artists, designers, animators, and storytellers. But building a quality game is only part of the journey. If Indian Indie Game Studios want their original games and IP to reach wider audiences, they also need to communicate their stories effectively. PR can help connect Indie Studios with gaming journalists, reviewers, creators, communities, publishers, industry professionals, and players around the world. 💡 My simple message: Development creates the game. Marketing creates awareness. PR creates relationships, conversations, and credibility. And ultimately: A great game deserves to be played—but players first need to know that it exists. 🎙️ Gamer for Life Hosted by Santhan Akkulu Topics: Gaming PR, Public Relations in Gaming, Indie Game PR, Indie Game Marketing, Game Press Kit, Game Media Kit, Indie Game Development, Game Studio Marketing, Indian Gaming Industry, Gaming Media, Game Reviews, and Game Studio Growth. #GamingPR #IndieGames #GameDevelopment #GameMarketing #IndieGameDev #GamingIndustry

Tips & Tricks for Growing Your Indian Indie Game Studio
🎮 How can you grow an Indian indie game studio and build games for a global audience? In this episode of Gamer for Life, I share my perspective and practical tips for developers, artists, game-design students, indie founders, and aspiring game creators who want to build and grow an indie game studio in India. Building a successful game studio isn't simply about hiring more people, choosing Unity or Unreal Engine, or developing a game and publishing it. A sustainable indie studio needs the right combination of quality, passion, creativity, teamwork, technology, storytelling, marketing, PR, accessibility, and long-term vision. 🎮 In this episode, you'll discover: • Why quality over quantity matters when building a game-development team • How to find passionate developers, artists, designers, and other specialists • Why indie studios should create a Press & Media Kit for game reviews and press coverage • How gaming PR and media relationships can improve studio visibility • Why developers shouldn't become permanently locked into one game engine • How to choose tools based on the game concept and development requirements • Why a multi-platform game strategy can help reach wider audiences • Why creating a Lore Bible can improve worldbuilding and development consistency • How inclusive recruitment, including opportunities for neurodivergent talent, can bring different perspectives to game development • Why Indian studios should develop original gaming IP • How to think beyond your first game and build a sustainable studio 🇮🇳 India has developers. India has artists. India has storytellers. India has gamers. The next opportunity is to transform this talent into sustainable studios capable of creating original games and intellectual property for audiences in India and around the world. Instead of asking only: “Which game engine should we use?” We should also ask: “What experience are we trying to create for the player?” And instead of asking: “How quickly can we build a team?” Ask: “Are we building the right team for this game?” Whether you're an Indian indie developer, game-development student, artist, designer, studio founder, or aspiring game entrepreneur, this episode offers ideas for thinking beyond one game and building for the long term. 🎧 Listen to Gamer for Life for conversations about the Indian gaming industry, indie game development, gaming careers, innovation, original IP, and the future of game creation in India. Indian Gaming Industry: Growth Story or Innovation Illusion?
🎮 Is the Indian gaming industry becoming a global game-development powerhouse—or are we mainly growing as a gaming consumption market? India has millions of gamers, talented developers, artists, designers and a rapidly expanding gaming market. But market growth raises a bigger question: Where are India's globally recognised original gaming IPs, major console titles and game studios building for global audiences? In this episode of Gamers for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, share my perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing the Indian gaming industry and game-development ecosystem. I discuss why India has strong technical and creative talent, yet many professionals work within service and outsourcing models rather than building original gaming products and IP. We explore: 🎮 Indian gaming innovation — Are we moving from game consumption toward original creation? 🚀 Indian indie game studios — Why building original IP and sustainable studios matters. 📱 Mobile vs PC and console development — Why India's gaming ambitions can expand across platforms. 🎓 Gaming education in India — Why game development requires more than coding: game design, storytelling, player psychology, art and systems thinking all matter. 💡 Product mindset — How the ecosystem can strengthen original games, characters, worlds and intellectual property. 💰 Game-development funding — Why original games often require patient, long-term investment. 🌍 India's global gaming opportunity — How Indian developers and studios can think globally while creating locally rooted and original experiences. This episode is not against India's gaming service industry. Services have created employment, technical expertise and global exposure. The larger question is how India can build on those strengths while developing more original games, independent studios and globally recognised gaming IP. My central question is simple: Are we measuring India's gaming success only through players, downloads and revenue—or also through original IP, innovation, studios and global game creation? 🎧 Listen to Gamers for Life and share your perspective. Hosted by Santhan Akkulu Topics: Indian gaming industry, India game development, Indian indie games, gaming innovation, original gaming IP, game-development ecosystem, gaming education, PC and console game development.

🎮 How can you grow an Indian indie game studio and compete in the global gaming industry? India has talented game developers, artists, designers, programmers, and millions of gamers. In this episode of Gamers for Life, I’m Santhan Akkulu, and I share my personal perspective on how Indian indie game developers and aspiring studio founders can build stronger, more sustainable game-development businesses. 🎯 In this episode, I discuss: • How to start small and scale an indie game studio intelligently • Why new studios should avoid chasing AAA development too early • Why quality over quantity matters when building a game-development team • How deeper recruitment can strengthen game design and development • Why Indian studios should develop original gaming IP • How original characters, worlds, mechanics, and gameplay can create studio identity • Why multi-platform game development should be considered early • Expanding beyond a Mobile-only or Steam-only mindset • PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and mobile opportunities • Moving from outsourcing and service thinking toward product-based game development • Why product thinking and game-design depth matter for gaming innovation • The importance of formalizing and building an indie studio for long-term growth • How Indian game creators can think globally from the beginning 🇮🇳 Can India become known not only as a huge gaming market, but also as a global game-creation ecosystem? Why Young Indian Game Developers Dream of AAA Games | Gen Z & Gaming Education
🎮 Why do so many young Indian game developers dream of building AAA games before they have access to high-end PCs, formal education, or professional production experience? In this episode of Gamers for Life, I’m Santhan Akkulu, and I share my personal observations about a growing trend among young Indian game-development aspirants, particularly Gen Z and Gen Alpha. Today, aspiring developers have unprecedented access to Unity, Godot, Blender, AI-assisted development tools, YouTube tutorials, programming resources, and global gaming content. This accessibility is opening exciting opportunities for young creators across India. But access to tools is not the same as understanding the complete game-development pipeline. We discuss why AAA game development involves much more than impressive graphics. Professional games require programming fundamentals, system architecture, optimization, game design, performance engineering, testing, publishing, deployment, cross-platform knowledge and long-term production experience. 🤖 AI and Game Development AI can help young developers prototype ideas, understand code, create concepts and learn faster. But AI should accelerate learning rather than replace the fundamentals behind game development. 💻 Can You Learn Game Development on a Low-End PC? Absolutely. Young developers should start with the hardware available to them—but project scope should match available resources. Instead of trying to make a massive AAA game immediately, developers can start with a small, polished game, learn how to finish it, test it, optimize it and publish it. 🎓 India's Game Development Education Gap India also needs stronger structured pathways for aspiring game developers. Schools, colleges, gaming communities, indie studios and experienced developers can help young creators gradually learn programming, mathematics, game design, storytelling, systems thinking, 2D and 3D development, optimization and publishing. My message to young Indian game developers is simple: Dream big. Learn deeply. Start small. Finish what you build. Then keep growing. AAA can be the destination. It doesn't have to be the starting point. This episode is based on my personal observations and experience with the Indian gaming ecosystem. It is intended to encourage young creators while highlighting the need for realistic learning pathways, education and mentorship—not to discourage anyone from pursuing game development. 🎙️ Follow Gamers for Life for conversations about the Indian gaming industry, game development in India, indie games, gaming education, gaming careers, AI in game development and building a stronger Indian gaming ecosystem.

What Indian Gaming Companies Must Do to Grow Globally
What must Indian gaming companies do to compete and grow globally? In this episode of Gamers for Life, Santhan Akkulu shares his personal perspective on the future of the Indian gaming industry and what Indian gaming companies can do to build stronger global recognition. The discussion explores why India should move beyond depending primarily on client-based game development and build more original gaming IP, Indian indie game studios, multi-platform games, and quality-driven game development. 🎮 In this episode: • Why Indian gaming companies should invest in original IP • How Indian indie game studios can grow globally • Why quality should be prioritised over quantity • The importance of PC, console and mobile game development • How neurodivergent talent can contribute different perspectives to game development • Why established gaming companies should support Indian indie developers • The importance of innovation, passion and long-term thinking • How India can develop its own global gaming identity India has developers, artists, designers, creators and millions of gamers. The next opportunity is to strengthen an ecosystem capable of creating, publishing and owning globally competitive games. This episode is intended to encourage constructive discussion about the future of game development in India. What Indian Gaming Colleges Must Do to Become Globally Respected Hubs
What must Indian gaming colleges do to become globally respected game development and gaming education hubs? In this episode of Gamers for Life, Santhan Akkulu shares his personal perspective on how gaming colleges in India can strengthen the next generation of game developers, indie creators, entrepreneurs, and gaming professionals. The episode explores the importance of indie game incubation, multi-platform game development and publishing, neurodivergent inclusion, quality-focused education, entrepreneurship, alumni mentorship, and global industry exposure. Indian gaming colleges can go beyond classroom learning by giving students opportunities to build real games, publish their projects, participate in game jams, understand commercialization, create original gaming IP, and gain experience with PC, console, mobile, and other gaming platforms. The episode also discusses why supporting neurodivergent talent, including people with ADHD, autism, and other cognitive differences, can contribute to a more inclusive and innovative game-development ecosystem. Every individual is different, and educational environments that recognize different strengths and learning styles can help more students reach their potential. Another important focus is quality over quantity. Instead of learning many tools only at a surface level, students can benefit from deeper knowledge of game programming, game design, art, animation, production, publishing, and other specialized disciplines. By supporting both employment and entrepreneurship, colleges can help students become not only job-ready professionals but also indie developers, startup founders, and future gaming-industry leaders. When successful alumni return as mentors, provide internships, hire graduates, and build globally recognized studios, they can strengthen the reputation of their colleges and contribute to the wider Indian gaming ecosystem. 🎮 Topics covered: Indian gaming colleges, gaming education in India, Indian gaming industry, game development education, indie game development, indie game studios, multi-platform game publishing, gaming entrepreneurship, neurodiversity in gaming, gaming careers, alumni mentorship, and global game development. Disclaimer: This episode represents my personal opinion and perspective. It is not intended to target, criticize, or hurt any individual, college, institution, company, or organization. Why Neurodivergent Talent Struggles in India’s Gaming Industry
Why does neurodivergent talent struggle to find jobs, grow professionally, or build game development companies in India? In this episode of Gamers for Life, Santhan Akkulu discusses neurodiversity and the challenges neurodivergent developers, artists, designers and founders can face within the Indian gaming industry. We explore traditional hiring practices, interview bias, skills-based recruitment, workplace awareness, quantity-versus-quality development culture, and why different ways of thinking can contribute to innovation in game development. This episode also discusses how Indian game studios can build more neuroinclusive workplaces through clearer communication, practical skills-based interviews, stronger documentation, flexible working practices where appropriate, and greater awareness of different communication and working styles. We also look at the bigger opportunity for India: moving beyond quantity-driven development toward quality, original gaming IP, stronger indie studios, inclusive teams and globally competitive game development. Topics discussed: Neurodiversity in gaming • Neurodivergent talent • Indian gaming industry • Game development jobs in India • Inclusive hiring • Skills-based hiring • Autism and ADHD awareness • Indie game studios • Gaming innovation • Quality vs quantity • Indian game development This episode represents personal opinions and observations and is intended to encourage constructive discussion, awareness, fair hiring and a stronger innovation culture in Indian gaming. Why India Is Still Not a Global Game-Development Powerhouse
🎮 India has millions of gamers—but why is India still not a global game-development powerhouse? In this episode of Gamers for Life, I explore the challenges, opportunities and future of the Indian gaming industry and game-development ecosystem. India has talented programmers, game artists, animators, designers, VFX professionals, indie developers and entrepreneurs. But talent alone cannot create a globally competitive gaming industry. We also need a complete ecosystem around that talent. In this episode, I discuss: 🎮 Why India's gaming journey has historically included client-based development, outsourcing and support services 🎓 Why game-development education needs stronger fundamentals—not just software knowledge ⭐ Why India needs to move from quantity to quality and forced multi-skilling to deeper specialisation 💡 Why solo and indie game developers need funding, mentorship, publishers, professional collaborators and external support 🌍 Why Indian studios should increasingly think about PC, console, mobile and multi-platform development 👑 Why India needs to move from outsourced projects to creating and owning original gaming IP and franchises 🕹️ Why gameplay and player experience should come before chasing technology simply because it is new 🧠 Why neurodivergent programmers, artists, designers and creators should receive fair opportunities—and why different thinkers should also have pathways to become studio founders 🚀 What India needs to build a sustainable game-development ecosystem capable of competing globally In my personal assessment, India may currently be around 10% into building the gaming ecosystem it is ultimately capable of creating. This is not an official market-growth statistic. It represents my personal assessment of India's ecosystem maturity and unrealised potential. My view: 🎮 10% built 🚀 90% opportunity ⏳ At least another 10 years for the next major transformation For years, Indian professionals have helped create games for the world. Now India needs to move: Outsourcing → Original IP Quantity → Quality Forced Multi-Skilling → Deep Specialisation Projects → Franchises Mobile-Only Thinking → Multi-Platform Development Technology-First → Gameplay-First Service Provider → IP Owner Overlooking Different Thinkers → Recognising Neurodivergent Talent The goal should be simple: 🇮🇳 Created in India. Owned in India. Played around the world. The question is no longer: “Can India make games?” The question is: “Which Indian game will the world play next?” Follow Gamers for Life for discussions about the Indian gaming industry, indie games, game development, gaming careers, original IP and the future of gaming in India. #IndianGaming #GamingIndustry #GameDevelopment #IndieGameDev #MadeInIndiaGames

Why Gaming Students in India Struggle to Get Jobs | Game Development Careers
Why do many gaming students in India struggle to get jobs in professional game-development studios? In this episode of Gamers for Life, I, Santhan Akkulu, share my personal experiences, observations and opinions about gaming education in India, game-development careers, gaming jobs for freshers, AAA studios, indie game development and the future of the Indian gaming industry. I look at what I observed in India's gaming ecosystem from 2008–2019 and how I believe the industry has changed from 2019 to the present. 🎮 In this episode, I discuss: • Why gaming students in India can struggle to find jobs • Game development jobs for freshers in India • Gaming education and professional industry exposure • What I call the “1-Day Quality” mindset • Game-development theory vs tutorial-only learning • Unity, Unreal Engine and learning fundamentals • Why a strong game-development portfolio matters • Specialists vs multi-skilled game developers • AAA game development careers • Indie game development in India • Product-based vs service-based development • PC, console and mobile game development • Original Indian gaming intellectual property • Steam and the discoverability challenge • Opportunities for neurodivergent gaming talent • What gaming colleges and companies can improve • How India can build a globally competitive gaming ecosystem YouTube can be an excellent learning resource, but following tutorials is different from understanding the fundamentals. Professional game developers need to understand not only how something works, but also why it works, how to debug it, optimise it and adapt it to different projects. Don't depend entirely on certificates, software knowledge or tutorials. Focus on: Theory → Research → Practice → Experimentation → Portfolio → Projects → Collaboration → Professional Skills Build something small. Finish it. Analyse what went wrong. Improve it. Then build again. Your portfolio should demonstrate what you can actually contribute to a professional game-development team. I also believe the Indian gaming industry should provide fair opportunities for neurodivergent talent. Different ways of thinking, learning and problem-solving can contribute to programming, game design, art, storytelling, systems development and innovation. This podcast represents my personal experiences, observations and opinions. It is not intended to generalise about every gaming college, faculty member, student or gaming company in India.
