Lifter's Guide to Running
The Garage Gym Guys are back and in the gym to discuss how a lifter can also become a runner. Brendon explains his past mistakes for 5K and Ironman training, how he overcame them with Myrtl and other routines, his thoughts on whether or not to use a program, how to set a path to success, and how to avoid injury on the way. Sean tries to keep Brendon on track and creatively links these running concepts to tried and true lifting concepts. Four Rules of Running for a Lifter: 1) Don’t commit to a program, just train for duration 2) Build a strong foundation using stabilization exercises 3) Learn form using simple exercises – don’t stress 4) Be patient with building endurance, remember to stay hydrated Important Links: 1) Coach Jay Johnson's Mytrl PDF: https://tinyurl.com/yc39juh9 2) Coach Jay Johnson's Myrtl Video: https://tinyurl.com/y2bjaq57 3) Bands for Lateral Hip Stability: https://tinyurl.com/yxhsbwuq 4) Standard Running Warmup Jason Fitzgerald: 5) Striders Video: https://youtu.be/v73-flygfyI 6) Striders Article: https://tinyurl.com/y4gg75vy 7) Hammer Nutrition Endurolytes: https://tinyurl.com/y376h7aj 8) Intro Explanation to Zone 2 training: https://tinyurl.com/y28tqara 9) Studies showing plyo's decrease race times with lower mileage volumes: A: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23838...
