Interview with Egyptian award-winning filmmaker Mayye Zayed
Check out our first episode in the GazettePod series “Women of Substance” which sheds light on success stories of Egyptian women. Our first episode’s guest is Egyptian film director Mayye Zayed who produced an award-winning documentary about women weightlifters. The documentary, titled “Ash ya Captain” or “Lift Like A Girl”, tells the story of a unique venue in Alexandria where a male captain trained young women on weightlifting and some of those women later became world champions. Zayed’s documentary is now being displayed at Zawya Cinema. Learn more about Mayye and the documentary in this episode.
