And this is something that I've found myself learning and thinking about in the course of writing the book and in learning about this subject is thinking about what does it actually mean to talk about evidence and what is scientific evidence as opposed to the way the term is used more loosely. In the response to this book online, someone said on X, there might not be proof, but there is evidence by which they meant there are things that are suggestive enough that they can be taken to support the idea, even if they're not ironclad proof. And I think that distinguishing between evidence in the sense of what a scientist means by evidence and testimony is very important and clarifying when we talk about the subject. […]
