About Geeks in the Greenroom
Welcome to Geeks in the Greenroom, a podcast by and for theater geeks with your host Heather Morrison (hey, Ma, that's me!). In each episode, I interview an actor, writer, dancer, singer, director, costume designer, triple threats, multi-talents, and all sorts of creatives. They share career journeys, confide their fails, wins, and surprises. I may even convince some to do a time step. What respectable Greenroom hang would be complete without a little light swearing, weird backstage rituals, and tails of showmances? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy (https://acast.com/privacy) for more information.

Carrie Madsen, Actor, Writer, and Totally Fabulous Greenroom Geek - Part 1 of 2
Our guest on this episode is Carrie Madsen, a true triple threat, nay, multi-threat. While Carrie was a long-time performer growing up in theater in her youth, she scaled back for a while in adulthood. But when she returned to performing, she leapt with gusto and single-mindedness that it jump-started her career, taking her from the Bay Area to Los Angeles. Besides having an old fashioned gab about a lot of different stuff, Carrie talked about what it’s like to build a career as a mature woman. We had so much to chat about in our interview, that I discovered I had enough material for three episodes! This is the first installment. In this episode Carrie’s talks to me about life and performing before she moved to Lotus Land. So, sit back and enjoy! C. Conrad Cady, Bay Area Theater Actor and Major Greenroom Geek
Our guest on this episode is C. Conrad Cady - Conrad is the quintessential Theater Geek and I just had to have him on the show to talk about his many years of doing community theater around the Bay Area. We even did two shows together. I thought it was three, but he set me straight. Anyway… Conrad has a ton of stories - I had to cut down our chat from 2 hours to 1 and that was barely scratching the surface. Conrad has logged over 75 productions over the course of 26 years from 1993 to 2019. His roles have included from “Father” in Bunnicula at the Children’s Theatre Workshop in Pleasanton to most recently Herr Schultz in Cabaret at Chanticleers in Castro Valley as well as appearing as Vladimir Lenin on the History Channel’s “The World Wars” part 1 of ‘Trial by Fire” where he was the only non-union actor on set. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/p83XltIvat0 (https://youtu.be/p83XltIvat0) Check out his extensive resume online here: http://www.cadytech.com/conrad/actres.php (http://www.cadytech.com/conrad/actres.php) as well as tons of photos from the shows he’s acted in and see the extensive list of plays, musicals and many awards he’s won in the Bay Area. He may have started “late” at 28, he made up for it in passion, focus, and pure geeky love of theater and performing. Away with the show! The beautiful ragtime music in the trailer is "The Strenuous Life" by Scott Joplin, 1902. Many thanks to Ragnar Hellspong who has graciously allowed me to use this music for my podcast. Ragnar, to quote him has "been playing ragtime piano in the Stockholm area for more than 50 years and piano in various traditional jazz bands for even longer than that."
