    Episode 7 Part 2 of "Gens Lens" tells the inspiring story of Oseola McCarty, a humble washerwoman from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, whose extraordinary generosity left a lasting legacy. Born in 1908, McCarty faced a challenging start in life, raised by her grandmother and aunt after her mother was assaulted. She left school in the sixth grade to care for her ailing aunt and took up work as a washerwoman, a job she performed with dedication and pride for decades.Despite her modest earnings, McCarty managed to save a significant amount of money over the years. In 1995, she made headlines by donating $150,000 of her life savings to the University of Southern Mississippi to fund scholarships for deserving students. This act of philanthropy was driven by her desire to help others avoid the hard labor she had endured. Her donation established the Oseola McCarty Scholarship, which has since benefited numerous students, including Stephanie Bullock, the first recipient. McCarty's generosity earned her national recognition, including a Presidential Citizens Medal and honors from the United Nations. She remained humble, often expressing that she was simply doing what she felt was right. Her story is a testament to the impact one person can have through selflessness and dedication to helping others.

    Episode 2 Gens Lens - What we've learned from the experience of Covid?

    We are three days away from the fourth anniversary of the start of COVID-19. In these past four years, we've changed so much. Here at Gens Lens, we've decided to discuss the impact of COVID-19 and what we've learned from that experience, examining it from each generation's perspective. We acknowledge the complexity and controversies surrounding the topic. Having said that, we stand by our choices and opinions, regarding sharing our individual views on a global event that had an enormous impact. As a team, we were initially hesitant about the approach and careful about our method of expression. Ultimately, everyone felt happy and content with the conversation, despite the differences in opinion. This, once again, reaffirms the mission of Gens Lens.
