Using what is regarded as politically correct English can be quite difficult these days, especially considering that the "rules" appear to be constantly changing. An "awesome" episode. Or is it?! American versus British English
In the same way that there are differences between Spanish spoken in Spain and Colombian Spanish, there are many differences between American and British English. A fanny pack conjures up quite a distinct image in Britain compared to the US. And innocently asking for a fag in New York might see you getting some rather strange looks. Awesome man! Or is it?!
De la misma manera que existen diferencias entre el español de España y el español de Colombia, hay varias diferencias entre el inglés que se usa en los EE.UU. y el inglés británico.
'Fanny pack' es algo muy inocente en Estados Unidos pero en Gran Bretaña, suena un poco raro. Y una persona de Londres pidiendo un 'fag' en Nueva York recibiría una sorpresa. ¡No sería tan 'awesome'! ¡O tal vez sí, sería magnífico!

How do I drive? I've no idea! — Literal translations
Translating something in Spanish word for word into English often leads to confusion or, worse still, the completely wrong message being transmitted. A giraffe of beer sounds fascinating all the same!
Cuando traduces una frase palabra por palabra a inglés de español, frecuentemente el resultado es muy confundido o, peor, das un mensaje completamente equivocado. Sin embargo, ¡una jirafa de cerveza traducida a inglés suena fascinante!

Brendan and Cormac go through some of their favourite and not-so-favourite expressions. The main advice is that it's good to be aware of them, yet you should use them sparingly (and humorously, if you can!). Remember, every silver lining has a cloud!

It's all about false friends in our second episode. No, we're not referring to people you can't trust, but words in English that look very familiar in Spanish yet have quite a different meaning — and vice versa. Be careful where you put that preservativo!

Cormac learnt the hard way the difference between '¿Con quién vive?' and '¿Con quién viene?'. It's all part of the fun of learning a new language, so don't let your English mistakes get you down!
