Ah fandoms, we're all a part of one, or know someone who'd ride at dawn for their favourite artist. But when did that love of their craft start to become something more? Why is the word parasocial thrown around in comment sections to denote a devoted fandom? We're picking back up in 2010 when a little band skyrocketed to fame, all the way through to today's biggest pop stars.

When did fandoms become parasocial? Part one
Ah fandoms, we're all a part of one, or know someone who'd ride at dawn for their favourite artist. But when did that love of their craft start to become something more? Why is the word parasocial thrown around in comment sections to denote a devoted fandom? We're starting all the way back in 1800s Europe to understand this phenomenon through the ages...

The rise and fall of talk shows
In 1998, a talk show where guests threw chairs at each other knocked Oprah off the top of the ratings. Twenty years later, the woman who ended every episode with "be kind to one another" was accused of running a toxic workplace. And today? Daytime TV is barely hanging on. So how did shows and hosts who were so influential in modern culture, kind of just fall off the face of the earth?
We had a little cricket friend in this recording... so apologies for his little song through the episode.

The erasure of Anne Boleyn
Anne Boleyn was many things. An intelligent, fashionable lady of the royal courts known for her wit and political power.
The subject of a man’s intense obsession, who would split the church for her hand. And ultimately, a victim of deliberate attempted erasure from the history archives.
So how did Anne, a once prominent and sophisticated woman in her own right, end up on the chopping block of a specially ordered swordsman?
In your ears today is @rosabowdn (https://www.instagram.com/rosabowdn/) and Ruby Burgess, your RB squared hosts.

When did gossip become a dirty word?
Words have many meanings attached to them without us even realising.
And the word gossip is one of them.
In the modern sense it's a mean, spiteful act, and to be labelled a gossip? A terrible thing!
But it wasn't always this way, and today we'll take you down the rabbit hole of how gossip has changed through history and society.

Why are paparazzi a thing?
Paparazzi. What's the first thing that comes to mind?
Photographers? Celebrities? Scandal?
Today, we go deep on the history and culture of the paparazzi in an effort to answer two questions: How did the paparazzi become the way they are? And, why aren't they considered stalkers?
