[…] If a family decides that they don't want to file the FAFSA initially, like they're not scrambling to get this started here on October 1st, or even if it's something that they'd don't do when the student applies to say an early action school, can they go back and refile the FAFSA later on or have they lost their opportunity? No, for sure they can go back and file. Now schools may, depending on when you're filing, if it's spring semester, there might be a chance that they're out of funds or the fund pool is reduced. But oftentimes if someone's applying early, and they don't think they need it for need-based aid, the state doesn't require it, but they want their student to have skin in the game and take out the federal student loan, oftentimes they'll apply, get accepted, and then go back and fill it out if they don't want it to be a piece of the need, blind, need-aware, even though the FAFSA has a very small factor in the admission piece of that.
