[…] A wonderful bird is the pelican. His bill will hold more than his belly can. Despite the seemingly insatiable appetite by their young, Pelican parents work quietly and diligently to give. They take turns watching the chicks and flying constant sorties for fish. Flying over the ocean waves, the pelican skillfully spots a fish, quickly calculating the position of the fish, allowing for the refraction of the water. The pelican pulls back its wings and dives. Keeping its bill pointed straight for the target, it adjusts the angle of descent with quick movements of its body. The pelican cuts through the water like a streamlined torpedo, opening its bill just in time to swallow the unsuspecting fish. […]
