About Getting Through It

In this broadcast, Dr. Jones shares how the world works, why you might feel the way you do about a particular disaster, and how you can manage the chaos around you that is real life. The topics range from earthquakes to other disasters that affect people, as well as the history of science and big disasters, and how through understanding why, we are more able to manage it and be more successful at “getting through it.”

[…] Yeah, sure. So the CLEAN project, which stands for Contaminate Level Evaluation and Analysis for Neighborhoods, is a project where we are open to receiving soil samples from anyone in LA County, including those that were affected by the LA fires last year. And we will test these samples for lead levels and we'll provide them back to the community. This project was actually started by faculty here at USC who were impacted by the fires themselves. Many of them had small children and they were worried about what's now in the sandbox at playground where my children play or in the school where my children are at and just concerns about what was released with these wildfires and how they may impact the health of their children or just their family in general. […]
