Girls Just Want To Train Dogs is an all girl podcast, a best friend for and by girls in the dog training industry. A safe space for discussions about successes, struggles and all things girls. And dogs. Pet dogs, sport dogs and the dogs we pet on the vacations we never have.
We’re cleaning poop, buying iced coffees and want to to excel in dog sport, run our businesses and try to remember to eat while men on instagram won’t believe that our dogs can heel without a visible reward.

SE02EP07: Pain, Fear and Microbes with Melanie @caninedecoded
With Melanie from @caninedecoded on the Podcast we talk about how the science around dog training and behavior is in a shift right now and how that nuances what has been claimed being the "scientific truth" about dog training methods. Is all punishment triggering a fear response? Can a dog who always have to seek for a reward be free?
Melanie has studied microbes before and she almost ate cat litter from her desk during this conversation - which could be factors to disqualify her voice in this matter if you would disregard exactly everything else on her resume.

EP4: The Backlash of Speaking Up
In this episode we have Helena as a guest, who got her first sport dog 2021, and went from a newbie to making a reserve spot as US-6 for the world championship for German Shepherds in IGP 2024. But what happened with Helenas spot in the team? Why do we need to talk about the hair of the German shepherd for 10 min? Where does her bravery to speak out against the very well establish top of the sport come from? And how does she manage the backlash of doing so? Have dog sport welcomed her, as a new and young female talent?
Fill up on bravery and learn why you shouldn’t meet your heroes during this very open and vulnerable episode.

[…] But... Every single paper that may or may not have some click-baity title, and that happens now too because of that, gets equal weight without considerations, if you're not a scientist, without considerations of the quality of the work behind it, where it has been published matters too. What I'm telling people who do want to do their own research, and it's a little bit different from what I do, you can go on Google and type in nutrition anxiety publications, but then look for type into review. By that, I mean, it's a publication. That is peer reviewed, but it's a review of existing, existing knowledge in the field, rather than just one finding, right? […]
