Ever wondered if AI is the new Picasso or if it's just rewriting the rules of creativity? Join me in my episode to explore how generative AI is shaking up the creativity world and pushing the boundaries of innovation in software engineering. In this thought-provoking episode, I embark on a journey to explore one of the most profound questions of our time: "Can machines really be creative?" As generative AI applications like ChatGPT and Co-Pilot push the boundaries of what technology can achieve, we delve into the heart of what creativity truly means. Join me as I discuss the nature of creativity itself, examining how imagination fuels the extraordinary capabilities of the human brain. We'll uncover the astonishing ways in which human intelligence operates, contrasting it with the abilities of large language models and why these models, despite their advancements, still fall short of achieving human-level general intelligence. Throughout this episode, we challenge the notion that AI could ever fully replicate the depth of human creativity and intelligence. 003 - Alan Turing and the tangled invention of computing
“We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done” - Alan Turing In today’s episode of Glitch we will be talking about this great mathematician Alan Turing and why he is known as the Father of modern computers. Turing's legacy is huge. We live in a world full of computers, thanks to the work of Alan Turing. The basic principle of the modern computer—the idea of controlling the machine's operations by means of programming instructions and storing it in the computer's memory—was conceived by Alan Turing. Turning machines are the blueprint of the modern day computers, anything from your desktop to your smart phones or the computers in the international space station are based on the Turing’s model. Anything that can be computed can in principle be done by Turning machine. If a Turning machine can’t compute it, it’s not computable. Even though the model was conceived more than 90 years ago, Currently there are no working model for computation is more powerful than Turing’s. 009 - Season 1 Finale - Questions and Answers
This is a freestyle episode I wanted to have and call it the final episode of season one. I thought I would talk more on my personal side, what I do for a living, how it all started and why I chose to record a podcast and what were my expectations when I started this podcast. Also I wanted to have a few questions from my audience answered in this episode. I posted about this in my various social media platforms and I have quite a few interesting questions. You can jump on to the time stamps for specific questions if you are interested :) Why do people who code always prefer dark and text based interactions, can't you guys develop your own fancy graphics user interfaces and make your life easier? And the most important part: why do you hit the enter key so hard?! (03.17) Why do coding people have to bring in complex technical keywords and references from your work life in a normal conversation? (05.32) Do machines have a brain of their own and can they think ? (07.25) Why do you people need so many monitors when you work?(10.10) Can you hack my Instagram? (12.22) Will you fix my computer? (13.39) Do you always carry a screwdriver?(13.54) How does the internet work? And how does it have all the answers? (14.41) What mobile phone do you use? And do you trust your mobile/pc? (16.09) Are the technologies shown in sci-fi movies possible in reality? What are a few which you think is pure fiction and they went overboard with their imagination? (17.24) Are you an alien? (19.21) Why does life sucks? (19.44) What is your take on God? Do you believe in god? 008 - Cryptocurrencies : The raise of disruptive technology!
Since human beings evolved, currency has been an important part of our lives. Now as technology improves more advanced, more people are buying things online and using credit cards. We are at a point where we don't see our money anymore. Now it all converges to an entry in a spreadsheet. In this episode I want to talk about where exactly crypto currency fits in with the financial bubble. As a tech geek, it’s the concept of Blockchain which is the key technology behind the crypto coins like bitcoins! What exactly are block chains? How does crypto-mining help in earning money? How this is going to be an disruptive technology? Join me in this episode to answer all the above questions. This is not an episode where I would be discussing the investment options on crypto currencies and which currencies you should be investing on. 007 - A World ruled by algorithms
They are everywhere! Algorithms are in the social media apps we use everyday, in search engines, even in dating apps! In this episode, we will talk about what they actually are? How they work ? Who makes them? Should we be worried about them and can they think for themselves! We can’t ask for change or know that there is something that needs changing if we don’t understand it. Nor can we have reasonable conversations to ask for things to change without a basic understanding of things. We don’t need an algorithm free future. But we can start to confront our own, very human, biases as we code and create it! 006 - Rocketology - Artistry and Engineering at work!
At T-minus 6.6 seconds, as the 120-ton space shuttle sits, surrounded by almost 4 Million pounds of rocket fuel is ready to defy gravity as its on board computers take in the command. As its pressure sensors, pumps, temperatures are nominal the computers give the order to light the main engines and the choreography of incredible engineering happens as each of the three engines fire off precisely at 160 milli seconds apart, tons of super-cooled liquid fuel pouring into combustion chambers, the ship rocking on its launch pad, held to the ground only by bolts. It is always an absolute beauty to watch a shuttle take off, as the time goes T-minus 0 seconds. At this time the on-board computers check all the sensor data, they give the order to light the solid rocket boosters. In less than one second, the rocket achieves 6.6 million pounds of thrust! And the spacecraft majestically takes off its launch pad! No human pushes a button to make this happen, there is no astronaut sits with a joy stick to set the shuttle in orbit, it's an awesome display of power of computers and software doing its job in a well-choreographed manner. But how much work does the software does? what makes this remarkable? In this episode, we will be discussing about how this engineering marvel defies gravity and how important and crucial for its software to be bug free or GLITCH free ;) Support the show (https://paypal.me/ivkrm?locale.x=en_GB) (https://paypal.me/ivkrm?locale.x=en_GB) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/glitch1001/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/glitch1001/support (https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/glitch1001/support)

005 - My phone is eavesdropping!
Recently WhatsApp Users in India received a pop-up notification, informing them about the new policy. And everyone has been talking about it lately.. So what is this all about? Why do I need to care about this new whatsapp terms and conditions? Most important of all why is that a messaging app like whatsapp is more interested in all of my data!? Are our mobile phones spying on us? As technology becomes more complex, it is less easy for people to understand how it does what it does, it can be scary: specially when that technology is applied to something that is aimed entirely at companies making money, instead of making life easier for people. So this is exactly what I am gonna talk about in today’s episode… Support the show (https://paypal.me/ivkrm?locale.x=en_GB) (https://paypal.me/ivkrm?locale.x=en_GB) --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/glitch1001/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/glitch1001/support (https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/glitch1001/support)

004 - Why Your Gadgets Get Slower Over Time
Most of us slow down as we age. We’re similar to conventional machines, like old cars or hair dryers that run less efficiently as they get on in years. But digital gadgets, particularly smartphones and computers? We expect them to operate quickly. Forever! There are plenty of conspiracy theories seeking to explain why our phones, tablets and computers always slow down as they get older. In today’s episode I will look into what is happening behind the screens. If you remember my first episode where I spoke about the magic of reset, I would have mentioned that there are few problems which cannot be fixed even by a system reset, these are such issues when both hardware and software can suffer causing the gadget to slow down. The main reason why phones slow down over time is that software updates often leave older hardware behind. Companies also update apps to take advantage of faster processing speeds and more efficient architectures. So for the users of the older hardware models, It often means that the new version of the app they loved will run slightly slower than the older version of the same app. During a software update process the older and less efficient code can get overlooked and left behind. The cumulative effect is that your older phone or laptop is having to work harder to get the same results, as more demands get placed on it by this newer software. If the latest and greatest smartphones and laptops have better hardware capabilities, then developers are inevitably going to take advantage of them by introducing more advanced features or by optimizing their code. That’s fine if you’ve picked up a flagship device in the last 12 months, but gradually, older devices struggle to keep up with the code changes and eventually get left behind completely. 002 - The Magic of Reboot
We would have wondered why does rebooting a computer fix so many problems? Or how can a simple reboot of my wireless router fix my internet connection? Join me in this episode where I try to answer common questions like, Why does resetting a device or restarting a program fix so many problems? And why don’t geeks try to identify and fix problems rather than use the blunt hammer of “reset it”?
