He is a member of the British Academy of Management (BAM), the British Universities Industrial Relations Association (BUIRA), the Association of University Administrators (AUA) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). He has held appointments as external examiner at a number of universities in the UK and is a member of the CIPD’s Educational Quality Management Panel. He has held the positions of Chair and Vice Chair of the Mid Scotland Branch of the CIPD and is currently a member of the Branch Committee. </span></p><p><span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9);">His teaching interests include human resource management, industrial relations and management development. He has worked closely with colleagues in several universities on a number of HR-related projects and has published in both academic and professional journals. Recent projects have concerned: staff attitudes and perceptions in the health sector; future skill development and partnership working among European employers and trade unions; and, attitudes to leadership among public sector managers.</span></p>
