About Global Ginga

Basically, it's a world party :) But seriously, Global Ginga unites what geography and politics divide. We are a radio show (and podcast) that features music from around the world. But we are much more than a radio show, we are a grass roots movement, an event entertainer, and a community partner. Created and hosted by Carla Leininger, from Brazil, and co-hosted by Sebastian Ogando, from the Dominican Republic, Global Ginga aims to be a multicultural agent of social change, because quality music comes in all shapes, colors, languages and sounds.

   Bossa Nova Noites Bahia Nights

Prepare to be transported to a musical realm where the timeless melodies of 'Respect Yourself' by Otis Redding and the captivating ballad 'Push Me Away,' originally penned by Michael and Randy Jackson and recorded by The Jacksons, find a captivating new life. In this new episode, we journey into the world of 'Bossa Nova Noites Bahia Nights,' an album that seamlessly blends the vibrant rhythms of Brazil with the soul-stirring sounds of iconic American songwriters. We'll uncover the creative process behind this unique project, featuring an interview with producer Robert Hėbert, who masterfully guides two emerging Brazilian singers, Mari Bodas and Monique Ellen, on this captivating musical adventure. What are the three key elements Robert emphasizes in his production process? “The Brazilian meter, rhythmic meter is different than the American rhythmic meter. And as someone who's outside of this culture, I'm an American from Chicago producing in Brazil with Brazilian musicians, the last thing that I should do…is impose their meter sense of rhythm on Brazilian musicians.” – Robert Hėbert Robert's passion for music and dedication to authenticity shine through in his production, resulting in an album that is both innovative and respectful of its influences.
