God and Hiphop E5: Women & Hiphop

Women's presence in Hiphop has been since the beginning. From Cindy Cambell (Dj Kool Herc's sister) to Roxanne Shante and every name in between, the lasting impact that women have had on hiphop is innumerable.

Sylvia Robinson, the "Mother of Hiphop", gathered her name for the pioneering acts she accomplished during the beginning stages of Hiphop. She is responsible for Sugar Hill in the Gang. A group known for being the first mainstream Hiphop record to play on the radio: "A Rapper's Delight".

With Hiphop being so visibly male dominated it has caused a rift in perspective concerning the importance of the contribution of women within this industry.

In this episode, we explore the importance and impact that women have made in the world of Hiphop.

Artist Highlight:

Dee1

Socials:
Instagram:
https://www.instagram.com/dee1music?igsh=MTdjZHg3cTB6dDg1NA==
Youtube:
https://youtube.com/@Dee1music?si=fWuSph7Q_1oEEC86

Music:
Spotify:
https://open.spotify.com/artist/5qEZVKHzNjB8k5tAT41Iox?si=ja_rlYPnTciuO-IIuiVvKQ

God and HipHop E3: Anime, Black Culture & HipHop

We as humans are known to put God in a box. When we do so, we limit our ability to see what He sees and so much more.

How many of us truly believe that Elohim is too big to be boxed? If so, why do we assume that He can only present Himself in one way and if it is not done in that way, then it can't be Him?

I believe we put too many limitations on God which cause us to miss out on abundance and harvest because we are too afraid to see God in uncharted territory. We must remember that "The earth is the Lords and the fullness thereof and they that dwell therein." Psalms 24:1

God created culture. Let's honor him by honoring what he allowed for us to express ourselves through in a righteous way.

Artist Highlight:

Tukootiff

https://www.instagram.com/tukooltiff?igsh=NzBmMjdhZWRiYQ==
http://tukooltiff.com
https://music.apple.com/us/album/salt/1686120496?i=1686120497

Pose the Question (PQ):

Do you think that Japanese people are exploiting black culture or are heavily inspired/influenced by our culture? Exploitation (OUT) vs. Inspiration (IN)

What is your favorite anime?

God and Hiphop E4: Will Smith & His Praying Grandmother

Will Smith, like it or not, is a pioneer in this love we call Hiphop. Being the first, along with his partner DJ Jazzy Jeff, to win a grammy for Hiphop, Will Smith paved the way by showing there is a tangible reward for this genre. An incredible feat considering that most thought that Hiphop was a trend soon to fade.

But behind every pioneer is someone who helped guide and steer them along the way and for Will Smith that was his grandmother. A praying grandmother.

In this episode we explore the behind the scenes of Will Smith's life to see what helped create his legacy well before he was known in the world today.

Despite the negligence of cancel culture, we will see the importance of his contribution to the entertainment industry.

Artist highlight:

Monielle!

Socials: https://www.instagram.com/ayyomonielle?igsh=OTN2bWR2YWdmNHo1

Music:
https://open.spotify.com/artist/0wiSZ5mShiHYKLLtqd73fx?si=gu3jdA0fRK-nAuZL6JZPXA
