For most of our lives, we’re taught to value independence—to make our own decisions, look out for ourselves and those we love, and chart our own path. So the idea of bowing to someone else can seem counter to everything we’ve learned.
But what happens when we begin to understand who God is—and who we are not?
Worship is intricately connected to our relationship with God. As we become more aware of His greatness, His power, and His presence, awe and reverence begin to take their rightful place.

What would this world be without God? Nothing would be made, there would be no life—He is the source of it all, continually sustaining His creation.
But what does it mean for God to be present? There is a difference between knowing that He is always present around us and experiencing His presence within us.
What was life like before we were aware of who God was? His transcendence goes beyond what we can fully understand or express, yet He is still near, inviting us to know Him.

79. Fire
Fire needs the right conditions and enough fuel to ignite and continue burning. In the same way, fire can represent the mutual love within a relationship—something that must be nurtured to keep burning rather than slowly fading away.
Our relationship with God can be viewed similarly. He does not ask us to do everything ourselves; He simply asks us to bring the fuel—our time, attention, prayer, and willingness. When we give Him what we have, He does the rest, keeping the fire burning within us.
