Über mehrere Jahre studierte Jutta Rust-Kensa bei Gregg Furth die Psychologie von C. G. Jung mit dem Schwerpunkt Bildinterpretation. Gemeinsam mit Gregg Furth und Ria van Heesch führte sie Seminare in Australien, Russland, Arizona und Deutschland durch. Mehr als 30 Jahre arbeitete sie in einer Erziehungsberatungsstelle in der Beratung und Therapie von Kindern, Jugendlichen und Eltern und ist freiberuflich weiterhin in eigener psychotherapeutischer Praxis mit dem Schwerpunkt Therapie mit Trauernden tätig. Mit dem Aufbau der ersten Gruppe der verwaisten Eltern widmete sie sich der Trauerbegleitung. Sie ist Gründungsmitglied von Verwaiste Eltern Hamburg e.V., begleitete dort fast 20 Jahre Gruppen und gestaltete themenbezogene Seminare in Bad Segeberg und Bad Bevensen. Als Gründungs- und langjähriges Vorstandsmitglied von ITA war sie verantwortlich für den Bereich Aus- und Fortbildung und entwickelte das Curriculum der hier angebotenen zweijährigen Qualifikation zur Begleitung trauernder Erwachsener, die sie bis 2021 auch leitete.
