   “Give Me This Mountain”—Take Hold of the Promises

   We thought you might enjoy this computer-generated image of me pursuing Jesus as He passes the baton to me. We all have a race to run—a purpose and a destiny. If we are going to fulfill that destiny, we are going to have to go after it with all our hearts. Sometimes the circumstances of life put hurdles and obstacles in our way. At times, our destiny is thwarted and delayed. But we cannot give up. We must keep looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, and take hold of the promises of God. I recently shared this message, “Give Me This Mountain!” at Northwoods Community Church in Solon Springs, Wisconsin. Take your mountain! Listen to the audio recording here: It reminds me of Caleb, one of the 12 spies who went up to search the Promised Land. Caleb and Joshua brought back a good report, but their 10 companions brought back a discouraging report, saying, “There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” (Numbers 13:33 NKJV). The grasshopper spies were defeated in their own minds before any battle took place. But Caleb was different! It says, “Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, ‘Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.’” (Numbers 13:30 NKJV). Caleb had a strong spirit. He saw the great opportunity in the land of Canaan. But the 10 spies had their eyes on the giants. Instead of walking by faith in the promise of God, they were controlled by what they saw with their natural eyes. The ten spies who gave the negative account died of a plague, and the people of Israel who listened to them were consigned to travel around in circles in the wilderness for 40 years until they died. But God set apart the faithful spies, Joshua and Caleb, saying that they would live and go in and possess the land. He gave a special promise to Caleb: “But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” (Numbers 14:24 NKJV). So after 40 long years of wandering in the wilderness with a bunch of naysayers followed by five more years of battle, Caleb came before Joshua and claimed the land that was promised him by Moses, “Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day…” (Joshua 14:12 partial NKJV). For us, the mountain represents the things that God has promised us, but we have not yet received. It may be a promise from the Word of God concerning healing, a financial need, our family, our business, or, or, or… It may be a specific word concerning our ministry calling. It’s any part of our inheritance that we have not yet received. Here are three things that Caleb did to take his mountain. They are also three steps that we need to take in order to take hold of the promises of God in our life. Caleb remembered the promise. Think of it! Caleb was a faithful man of God. He had served the Lord fully. And yet for 45 long years he waited and patiently endured because of the unbelief of others. He must have been tempted to give up in frustration. He must have thought, “When will I ever receive the promise?” Yet, when the time was fulfilled, he remembered the promise that was given him through Moses. Caleb claimed what was rightfully his. He believed the Word which was spoken, so He boldly claimed what was his. Nothing mealy-mouthed here. “Give me this mountain!” he demanded, and he received. Caleb took action. He didn’t just ponder the promise and talk about it to his friends. Caleb was not passive. He did something about what God had spoken. So many people have a calling on their lives, but they never take action. They wait and wait and wait. No, when the time is right, go up and possess what is yours! Caleb took the mountain and defeated the same giants that made the 10 spies cower in fear. You, too, can possess what is yours in Christ Jesus! You can fulfill your destiny. I want to encourage you.    The Precious Blood of Jesus: Why It Changes Everything [Audio & Video]

   Many people do not realize the power that is available to them through the precious blood of Jesus. It’s not our good works that save us. It’s what Jesus did on Calvary. When He cleanses us by His blood, we are changed from the inside out. This message explains the power that is in the blood of Jesus and how to appropriate it in your life. Notes: The Precious Blood of Jesus “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.” 1 Peter 1:18-21, KJV. Main Thought: The Blood of Jesus sets you free.  Value the Blood. Honor the Blood. Believe in the Blood. Plead the blood. Remember the Blood. Tom’s Testimony: Precious is the blood of the lamb, which was shed for you.” To me the blood is personal. It’s not just a Bible doctrine. It means God loves me. The blood is precious because… Costly (great sacrifice) Rare (blood of God) 4-5 quarts for all the sins ever committed by every person Valuable (useful) Precious (timios) as of a great price, precious, held in honour, esteemed, especially dear. If His blood is precious, then you are precious, because it paid for you. God SO loved. John 3:16 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:29, KJV). CHRIST OUR PASSOVER IS SACRIFICED FOR  US “Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:” 1 Corinthians 5:7, KJV. “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Exodus 12:13, KJV. Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. (Exodus 12:21-23, KJV). WE ARE IN COVENANT WITH GOD THROUGH THE BLOOD “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:28, KJV. “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:10-12, KJV. “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,” Hebrews 13:20, KJV. “As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.” Zechariah 9:11, KJV. WE ARE CLEANSED BY THE BLOOD “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:7-9, KJV. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7, KJV). “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:14, KJV. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. (Hebrews 9:22, KJV). You can scrub and scrub and never come clean, but the blood of Jesus effectively cleanses you from all sin. WE HAVE LIFE THROUGH THE BLOOD For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. (Leviticus 17:11, KJV). Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:53-54, KJV). WE HAVE ACCESS TO GOD THROUGH THE BLOOD Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:19-23, NKJV). Say what God says about you. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. (Exodus 12:7, KJV). Plead the blood… “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.” Isaiah 43:25, 26, KJV.
