NFL Rejects Sorsby & Why That Exposes The NCAA | CFB 2026

The NFL just did in one letter what the NCAA could not do in six weeks across three courtrooms. Brendan Sorsby's attorney is calling the league's decision not to hold a supplemental draft a violation of the CBA. The NFL's response was direct and unflinching — participation in the league is a privilege that comes with accountability, and pursuing litigation instead of accepting responsibility does not change that. The Governor closes the book on this entire saga tonight with a ruling on what it actually revealed — a stark disparity between an owner-run league with real enforcement power and a player-led governing body that has been stripped of nearly all of its own. The sport's on-field product remains undefeated. Its credibility has taken hit after hit. The Governor explains why both things are true, why he genuinely feels for Sorsby the person while still believing the ruling against him was right on all accounts, and why the Protect College Sports Act is the only realistic path to closing that gap.

Also on the show — the NCAA approves a landmark age-based eligibility model that could fundamentally reshape recruiting strategy starting in 2027. Virginia Tech names a new athletic director from one of the most connected families in college athletics administration. Ohio State enshrines Jim Tressel in the Ring of Honor, and the Governor wrestles with what that honor means fifteen years after the scandal that ended his coaching career.

Governor Reacts to EA Sports' CFB 27 top 10 ratings at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver — Jeremiah Smith joins the 99 club, Dante Moore as the top-rated quarterback does not sit right with the Governor, and Conner Weigman's complete absence from the QB list is the biggest snub of the night. Around the Nation breaks down ESPN's SEC predicted order of finish — Georgia sits at number one, but the Governor is very high on Texas, Oklahoma, and LSU, and makes the case for why an eleventh-place team could be the most undervalued program in the conference.

Governor of College Football — Live Monday Wednesday Friday 6 PM ET. Week 0 Is A Litmus Test & The Best Backup QBs In CFB | CFB 2026

Week 0 is the greatest eye test of the season and the Governor breaks down every marquee matchup on the slate. TCU and UNC run it back after last year's national television blowout — the question is how much Bill Belichick's program has actually grown in year two and whether Billy Edwards Jr. can connect with Jordan Shipp. NC State and Virginia is the Governor's pick for the most telling game of the night — CJ Bailey and one of the friendliest schedules in the conference have the Governor believing NC State can win 10 games and make a real ACC Championship push. Memphis and UNLV close the night with two of the best quarterback competitions in the country — Air Noland against Division II transfer Marcus Stokes, who is trying to write the next Trinidad Chambliss story, and Jackson Arnold against Alex Orji out in Las Vegas.

The Governor also reacts to CBS Sports' top 10 backup quarterbacks for 2026 — Dylan Raiola and Dante Moore give Oregon the best insurance policy in the country, the Alabama QB battle between Austin Mack and Keelon Russell remains the most closely watched competition in the sport, and the Governor calls out the single biggest omission on the entire list — Florida's Aaron Philo versus Tramell Jones battle, which should have been included.

Around the Nation breaks down the Big 12's post-spring insider intel — DJ Lagway is reportedly "the real deal" at Baylor, Mikey Keene has a real shot to win the Arizona State job outright, Michael Hawkins gets validated as a legitimate breakout dark horse at West Virginia, and Texas Tech remains one of the most talented rosters in the conference no matter where things stand with the Sorsby situation. Into the News covers Arizona AD Desiree Reed-Francois addressing the Wisconsin job rumors, Curt Cignetti explaining why he lets his staff handle agents, Greg Sankey firing back at the Protect College Sports Act's updated super league language, the Parker Kingston case dismissal, and Shedeur Sanders returning to Boulder to coach up the Colorado quarterback room.

Governor of College Football — Live Monday Wednesday Friday 6 PM ET. Protect College Sports Act Clears Senate Committee 19-9 | CFB 2026

Special episode with Moonvibes from Overreaction Monday. The Protect College Sports Act passed the Senate Commerce Committee 19-9 — the furthest any college sports reform bill has gotten in over a decade of hearings on Capitol Hill. Seven Democrats crossed party lines to support it in committee. Two Republicans voted no, including Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Todd Young of Indiana. The first roll call amendment of the markup session — blocking private equity firms from college media rights deals — failed 20-8, with every Republican voting against it.

Maria Cantwell's response to the SEC and Big Ten's continued opposition was the line of the day: "What we did today is say we're not going to let the most powerful and richest conferences dictate to the rest of America what's going to happen to 500,000 athletes." The SEC and Big Ten say the revisions they requested were never accepted despite what they call sustained, good faith engagement, and they remain opposed to the bill as written heading into the next stage.

The Governor and Moonvibes break down the vote, the amendment fight, the conference response, and what happens next now that Senate Majority Leader John Thune controls whether this bill ever sees a floor vote. The SCORE Act cleared a committee before it and was never brought to the floor. The Governor and Moonvibes give their predictions on whether the Protect College Sports Act suffers the same fate or actually gets a vote before the August recess.

Governor of College Football — Live Monday Wednesday Friday 6 PM ET.
