Walking Without A Map

God told Abraham to leave his country, his family, and everything he had ever known — and go to a land He would show him later.

No route. No timeline. No guarantee of what was ahead.

That's still how He works.

In this message, we look at what Abraham's call reveals about how God leads His people. Most of us don't struggle because God hasn't spoken — we struggle because He hasn't told us everything. But certainty was never the prerequisite for obedience. Faith is.

God's word is a lamp, not a stadium light. He gives just enough for the next step. And every step of obedience reveals more of Him than you could have seen standing still.

Abraham never received a map. He received something infinitely better — the presence of God. And that's enough.

The Legacy You Leave

Every table leaves a legacy. The question is not whether you're leaving one — but what you're leaving behind.

Most fathers aren't trying to fail their families. They're working, providing, showing up, keeping their heads above water. But here's the tension: you can be successful in the things that matter least while failing in the things that matter most.

Our culture asks what college your kids got into, how much they make, how big the house is. Psalm 78 asks a different question: are you passing faith to the next generation?

Legacy isn't created in a moment. It's built in the ordinary — a dinner table, a bedtime routine, a car ride, an apology, a habit, a priority. Children don't become what we intend. They often become what we model. They learn what matters by watching what matters to us.

The Bible's vision of legacy isn't what you leave to people. It's what you leave in them. Money disappears. Property changes hands. Faith travels generations.

A father may leave a million dollars — or he may leave a son who knows how to trust God. One is valuable. The other is eternal.

One day nobody will care what was on the table. They'll care who is around it.

The Order of the Table

Every table has a dynamic. And when nobody knows their role, everybody feels the tension.

We live in a culture that is deeply suspicious of order — especially in marriage. Words like "submission" and "leadership" land like fighting words. But Paul isn't writing a power manual. He's describing a picture of something far more beautiful: a marriage that reflects the way Christ loves the church.

In Ephesians 5, Paul calls husbands and wives into something radical. Not a hierarchy built on control, but a partnership built on sacrifice. Mutual submission. Servant leadership. A love that lays itself down and a respect that chooses to honor even when it's hard.

When God's design gets ignored, relationships don't just get complicated — they drift. Slowly. Quietly. Until nobody remembers how they got so far from each other.

But when two people sit down at the table and ask "how can I serve you?" instead of "what do I deserve?" — everything changes.

God's design for marriage was never meant to create tension. It was meant to end it.
