In this message from the Modern Problems, Ancient Solutions series, Mike addresses how cultural forces and "expressive individualism" subtly shape believers to prioritize self-reliance over God and community. Drawing on Romans 12:1–2 and the historical example of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's underground seminary at Finkenwald, he presents a vision of counter-formation and spiritual resistance. True transformation and discerning God's will cannot happen in isolation; rather, believers are called to lay down their lives as one unified sacrifice, actively leaning on and discerning with one another as interconnected members of Christ's body.

Anxiety (Jason Durst)
In this sermon from the Modern Problems, Ancient Solutions series, Jason addresses the widespread culture of anxiety, isolating technology, and fear, grounding his message in Philippians 4:4–13. He unpacks how toxic "what ifs" trap people in worst-case scenarios, inviting listeners to shift their perspective to "what if God" and replace anxiety with faith. By examining Paul’s "whatever is" list, Jason shows how false identities and lies can be countered by fixing our thoughts on Jesus, who fills our spiritual gaps and offers true peace. Ultimately, he encourages believers to rest in God's promises, step out in vulnerability, and embrace a community-driven faith that overcomes anxiety together.

Evangelism (Kaj Wigston)
In this sermon from the Modern Problems, Ancient Solutions series, Kaj addresses the discomfort and cultural taboos surrounding evangelism in today’s self-centered world. Drawing from John 1, he presents a natural, relational model for sharing faith that shifts away from high-pressure tactics or privatized belief. Believers are encouraged to follow four practical movements: abiding in Jesus to daily receive His love, finding people in their existing networks of family, friends, and neighbors, living a questionable life through distinct, visible actions that evoke curiosity, and taking a risk by stepping into the story God is already writing in others' lives.
