This sermon examines the second round of dialogue between Job and his comforters, specifically focusing on Eliphaz's accusation in Job 15 and Job's response in Job 16. The central argument posits that Job's intense lamentations and protests are not acts of rebellion against God, but rather righteous responses to the friends' misrepresentation of God as a vengeful punisher. The text highlights the failure of the comforters to offer genuine compassion, instead relying on a rigid theology of retribution that ignores Job's actual suffering and integrity. By contrasting the friends' judgmental approach with Job's enduring trust, the sermon affirms that God permits His people to express anguish and protest in faith, provided such expressions are suffused with hope in His ultimate purposes for good.

Being Zealous for The Good
This sermon explores the call for Christians to be zealous for what is good, emphasizing that ethical conduct serves as a primary witness to the world. The message argues that while believers may face opposition, their primary response should be to live under the gaze of God rather than fearing human retaliation. It highlights the theological distinction between moral goodness and divine goodness, urging believers to imitate Christ's example of suffering for righteousness' sake without returning evil for evil. The preacher encourages the congregation to set Christ apart as Lord in their hearts, finding blessing and peace in God's providence even when facing persecution. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a life of excellence and zeal that reflects the character of God, opening the door for effective gospel witness.

The Life Giving Yoke
This sermon examines the prophetic call for Judah and surrounding nations to submit to Babylonian rule as an act of obedience to God's sovereign will. It contrasts the false assurance of immediate restoration offered by false prophets with Jeremiah's warning that a seventy-year exile is necessary for spiritual formation and eventual blessing. The message emphasizes that while the yoke of foreign domination is harsh, it is ultimately life-giving because it aligns with God's purpose to discipline His people and fulfill His promises. The preacher connects this historical context to the Christian life, urging believers to reject false hope and instead submit to the easy and light yoke of Jesus Christ. This submission leads not to defeat, but to true rest, joy, and participation in the eternal kingdom of God.
