Grate Conversations is a lifestyle and wellness podcast hosted by Dr. Tangie — a pharmacist, mom, and thoughtful observer of real life.
Each season explores big concepts like joy, relationships, alignment, and capacity, breaking them down into the small practices that actually make them possible.
Some episodes dive into frameworks like The Reciprocity Standard — Tangie’s approach to building relationships that feel mutual, supportive, and life-giving. Other episodes are more conversational, touching on motherhood, wellness, lifestyle, and moments from culture that spark deeper reflection.
Think of this podcast like sitting down with a thoughtful friend who loves talking about growth, relationships, and figuring life out in real time.
Because living well doesn’t happen by accident
This week on Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie, I’m sharing my thoughts on the Tim Hortons coffee shop tragedy, the conversations it sparked around stress,
We’re unpacking what we can learn from moments like this and why stress management has to become part of our wellness routine—not just something we think about after burnout happens.
I’m also officially introducing the SMILE Method—my signature stress management strategy specifically
If you’re a woman trying to protect your peace while still showing up for your life, this episode is for you.

Communication: Why Timing And Tone Matter
This week on Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie, we’re talking all about communication — specifically timing, tone, and the importance of feeling understood in your relationships. Because sometimes it’s not just what you say… it’s when and how you say it.
I’m also sharing a podcast-exclusive story that didn’t make it to social media 👀 so if you want the full conversation, you’ll have to tune in.
And of course, I’m ending the episode with one GRATE thing I’m loving right now: the blush from Danessa Myricks because the glow is absolutely glowing.

HONESTY: THE FOUNDATION OF EVERY HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP
In this episode of Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie, we’re talking about honesty and why it’s one of the most important pillars of reciprocity in relationships.
Because healthy relationships can’t exist without honest communication, emotional safety, and the ability to tell the truth — even when it’s uncomfortable.
We’re diving into:
• honesty in friendships
• emotional wellness
• communication in relationships
• and what it really means to build reciprocal connections
Because relationships that only survive silence were never truly safe to begin with.

WHAT RECIPROCITY MEANS IN RELATIONSHIPS
I’m backkk after a week off… and this week we’re talking about friendships.
Not just having them —
but having ones that actually feel reciprocal.
In this episode of Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie, I’m introducing what I call The Reciprocity Standard — a way to understand whether your relationships are truly mutual, supportive, and aligned.
Because the truth is…
Some relationships look fine on the outside,
but feel draining, one-sided, or unclear in real life.
We’re talking about:
what reciprocity really looks like
how to recognize imbalance in friendships
and why grace is necessary if you want relationships to actually last
Because relationships aren’t about keeping score…
but they also shouldn’t leave you depleted.
And I want to ask you:
Do your relationships feel reciprocal — or just familiar?

REDISCOVERING WHO YOU ARE IN THIS SEASON
In this episode… I’m getting a little more comfortable, and it really feels like we’re just sitting down and talking.
Yes, the title says this conversation is about identity, but it’s more than that. This is me sharing — in real time — what it has looked like to rediscover myself and find joy in a new version of me.
Because sometimes identity isn’t something you figure out once.
It’s something you revisit as life shifts, as you grow, and as your priorities change.
In this conversation, I reflect on:
• what it means to evolve as a woman
• how motherhood, work, and life transitions can reshape your identity
• and how joy can still exist — even when you don’t fully recognize who you’re becoming yet
This episode is less structured and more of a real, honest moment — the kind of conversation that reminds you that you’re not alone in figuring it out.
At the end of every episode, I leave you with this question:
What would living well look like for you right now — and who are you becoming in this season?
And of course, I share One GRATE Thing I’m loving.
If you’re navigating change, rediscovery, or simply learning how to live well in a new season, this conversation is for you.
Because living well doesn’t happen by accident.

WHY EXHAUSTION MAKES JOY FEEL IMPOSSIBLE
Okay… I know I say this every week, but this one really is one of my favorite episodes.
Because in this conversation, we’re talking about something that has completely shifted how I experience life: my menstrual cycle.
In this episode of Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie, I break down how understanding your cycle can help you optimize your life, reduce exhaustion, and increase your capacity — without forcing yourself to operate the same way every single day.
This isn’t about perfection.
It’s about working with your body instead of against it.
I share how I use my cycle to approach everyday tasks like:
laundry
cleaning
productivity
and overall energy management
So instead of constantly feeling behind or burned out, I can better understand what I actually have the capacity for in each phase.
Because exhaustion isn’t always about doing too much…
sometimes it’s about doing things at the wrong time.
At the end of every episode, I leave you with this question:
What would living well look like for you right now — and how can you align your life with your current capacity?
And of course, I share One GRATE Thing I’m loving.
If you’re ready to feel less overwhelmed and more in tune with your body, this episode is for you.
Because living well doesn’t happen by accident.

WHY YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM AFFECTS YOUR JOY
At this point… we’re basically besties, right?
In this episode of Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie, we’re continuing The Architecture of Joy and diving into one of the most important pillars: self-regulation.
Because the truth is — you can’t experience joy consistently if your nervous system is constantly overwhelmed.
In this conversation, I break down the importance of self-regulation using insights from Dr. Amber Thornton’s framework in her book A Parent’s Guide to Self-Regulation, and connect it to what it actually looks like in real life — especially as women navigating work, motherhood, and everyday stress.
We talk about:
• what self-regulation really is (and what it’s not)
• how your nervous system affects your emotions, relationships, and joy
• why feeling “on edge” might not be your personality — it might be your physiology
At the end of every episode, I leave you with a question to reflect on:
What would living well look like for you right now — and how can self-regulation support you in this season?
And before we go, I share One GRATE Thing I’m loving.
If you’re interested in conversations about joy, emotional wellness, nervous system regulation, personal growth, and living well in real life, you’re in the right place.
Because living well doesn’t happen by accident.

TRUSTING LIFE WHEN THE OUTCOME IS NOT CLEAR
Welcome backkk!!
I’m so excited — and truly grateful — that you decided to listen or watch Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie for a second week in a row.
In this episode, we’re continuing The Architecture of Joy series and exploring the second pillar: Faith.
Trigger Warning:
In this conversation, I share a personal story about my second pregnancy and my experience with late-term pregnancy loss. It’s a vulnerable story, and parts of this episode may feel emotional or a little all over the place — but I promise by the end you’ll understand why faith is essential if we want to experience and hold onto joy, especially during life’s most difficult seasons.
I also mention an episode from “In Totality Podcast” with host Meghan Ashley — Season 3: “Remember Who You Are (Children of the Light)”. I highly encourage you to listen if you want a deeper understanding of the spiritual perspective we touch on in this conversation.
At the end of every episode, I leave you with a reflection question:
What would living well look like for you right now — and how can faith support you in this season?
And before we go, I share One GRATE Thing I’m loving right now:
the Daily Vitamin Gummies from Black Girl Vitamins.
If you’re interested in conversations about joy, faith, emotional wellness, grief, personal growth, motherhood, and living well through life’s seasons, you’re in the right place.

Support: You Were Never Meant to Do Life Alone
Welcome friends to Season 1, Episode 1 of Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie.
I finally decided to do the thing I’ve always wanted to do — teach women how to live life well.
In this premiere episode, we’re starting with The Architecture of Joy, where I break down the five pillars that help us receive and radiate joy in our everyday lives.
Along the way, I go on a little side quest (because if you know me, you know I’m a side-quest storyteller) and share the real reason I decided to start this podcast.
At the end of every episode, I’ll also leave you with one question to reflect on:
“What would living well look like for you right now?”
And before we go, I’ll share One GRATE Thing I’m loving — and today it’s the Amika Dry Shampoo, because sometimes living well also means good hair days.
If you’re interested in conversations about joy, wellness, relationships, emotional wellness, motherhood, personal growth, and living intentionally, you’re in the right place.
Welcome to Grate Conversations with Dr. Tangie — because living well doesn’t happen by accident.
