What the Heck is AHEC?: Dr. Anne Morris and Jennifer Gaudreau
This week, we are joined by Dr. Anne Morris and Jennifer Gaudreau to talk about their work with Vermont's Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program. Dr. Morris is the Associate Dean for Primary Care and AHEC Associate Professor of Family Medicine here at the Larner College of Medicine, but shares her personal experiences of practicing medicine in Vermont and why she values being here. Jennifer Gaudreau, a lifelong Vermonter, is a Physician Placement Professional at Vermont AHEC and shares the behind the scenes of how she gets doctors to locations that fit best with their goals. Luckily for us, Selena and Brandon had a chance to speak with the current American College of Physicians (ACP) President, Dr. Jan Carney, about how medical students, physicians, and providers can be advocates as individuals and as larger organizations such as the ACP. Long time listeners of Green Mountain Medicine may remember that we interviewed Dr. Carney back in 2019, but while the world has changed dramatically since then, Dr. Carney's dedication to public health has been unwavering.
