Podcast Overview

Groove Box is a monthly podcast by Dvine Brothers where they play 100% Local Music. The face of Dance Music, better known to many as House Music, has changed in the Republic of South Africa. In the past 10 years or so, the complexion of the game has taken a 360 degrees turn, wherein underground or deep house acts have somewhat lost spot for main stage. Before the change, Dvine Brothers were also there, working in the background and also releasing singles and albums. The transition saw many SA cats failing to adopt to the change and thus fading into cracks. This however, does not epitomize Dvine Brothers. The duo have embraced change, thus was able to release a fully blown deep house / afro tech album with House Afrika and immediately switch to mainstream, hence were able to lay beats and produce “Love Is Blind” with Lady Zamar, just to name a few. Listening to their sound, you will realize the amount of experienced acquired by working on the deep house genre. Their new sound, which is now what they would like to focus on in as far as repositioning and rebranding their craft, has a mixture of Afro Broken Beats fused with soul, African guitar and a bit of tech here and there. This is what we call balancing between good sounds, rhythm and beats in creating their own African sound/feel and signature (sound effect) that they have in all their songs.
