The Nicene Creed follows 1 Corinthians 15 in claiming that the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus was "according to the Scriptures." Through the Passover in Exodus and the Day of Atonement in Leviticus, the stage is set for Jesus to give his life as a means by which we can be saved. Just as life is found in the blood of an animal and is offered up as a sacrifice for sin, Jesus offers his life for us through his blood once and for all.
