Grown and Becoming is a steady, thoughtful podcast for adults in the second half of life who are learning how to love and believe differently without losing themselves in the process.
Hosted by Tina, this space explores emotional maturity, relationships, spiritual growth, boundaries, reinvention, and the quiet courage it takes to start again.
They are honest, regulated, grounded dialogues about faith, love, accountability, and becoming who you are slowly, intentionally, and safely.
If you are rebuilding, recalibrating, or redefining what faith and love look like now — you are welcome here.
What do I actually want now?
In the Season 1 finale of Grown and Becoming, we’re moving beyond healing from what happened and beginning to think about what comes next.
We’ll talk about why freedom can feel uncomfortable when your life has been defined by roles and responsibilities, why wanting something for yourself isn’t automatically selfish, and how to begin discovering what matters to you when your honest answer is, “I don’t know.”
In this episode, we explore:
Why knowing what you don’t want isn’t the same as knowing what you want
Autonomy, competence, and connection through the lens of Self-Determination Theory
Why desire can be information without automatically becoming direction
The difference between asking God for wisdom and demanding certainty
Why your next chapter doesn’t have to impress or prove anything to anyone
How to build from your values instead of simply reacting to your past
A practical “What Do I Want?” inventory to help you begin exploring your next chapter
We’ll also look at James 1:5 in context and what it means to ask God for wisdom when you don’t have your entire future figured out.
Season 1 began with the question: Can I trust myself to start again?
We’re ending with a new one:
What am I ready to build now?
You don’t need a perfect plan. You don’t need to know what the next twenty years will look like.
You can be grown—and still becoming.

Who Are You When the Life You Built is Over?
Rebuilding your identity after divorce, loss, and a life you thought would last.
Sometimes the hardest part of starting over is not losing the relationship. It is losing the version of yourself who existed inside it. For years, you may have been somebody's wife. Somebody's mother. The responsible one. The fixer. The caregiver. The business owner. The person who held everything together. Then life changes. And suddenly you are left with a question that sounds simple but can feel terrifying:
Who am i now?
In this episode, we explore:
why major life transition can disrupt identity
The difference between your roles and your identity
why going"back to who you used to be" may not actually be the goal
How divorce and midlife transitions can create both grief and opportunity
Why women can struggle to identify what they actually want
What Scripture teaches us about identity and becoming.
Practical ways to begin discovering who you are now
Why your next chapter does not need to resemble your previous one.

You Don't Need Closure From Them to Move Forward
What to do when you never get the apology, explanation, or final conversation you wanted?
Many people believe they cannot move forward until they finally get closure. But healing does not always arrive through another person. Sometimes closure looks less like getting all the answers and more like accepting that some answers may never come.
In this episode, we talk about:
Why uncertainty can keep us emotionally stuck
The difference between closure and understanding
Why an apology may not give you the peace you expected
How to stop waiting for someone else to explain your pain
What scripture teaches about moving forward without denying the past
Practical ways to create your own sense of completion
How to grieve what you never received

Protecting Your Peace Without Becoming Emotionally Unavailable
"Protect your peace" sounds healthy.
And sometimes it is. But what happens when protecting your peace becomes avoiding difficult conversations, keeping everyone at a distance, or refusing to let anyone close enough to disappoint you?
In this episode, we talk about:
The difference between peace and avoidance
Healthy boundaries versus emotional walls
Why healing can make vulnerability feel risky
How self-protection can become overprotection
What Proverbs 4:23 really means in context
How to stay discerning without becoming unreachable
Questions to help you elevate whether a boundary is protecting your healing or blocking connection.
This episode blends psychology-supported ideas, biblical reflection, and personal experience. It is educational and not a substitute for therapy or professional care.

Have They Told You, You've Changed?
What happens when you start healing and suddenly some of your relationships feel different?
Maybe you are saying no more often. Maybe you are explaining yourself less. Maybe behaviors you once tolerated bother you now. Maybe people who were comfortable with the old version of you seem uncomfortable with the woman you are becoming.
That does not automatically mean you have "outgrown" everyone, become more spiritually mature than them, or need to cut people off.
Sometimes healing improves relationships.
Sometimes it exposes patterns that were already there.
And sometimes you are the person who still needs to learn how to communicate differently. In this episode, we talk honestly about boundaries, relational patterns, truth in love, changing expectations, and how to discern whether a relationship needs repair, adjustment, distance or simply a better conversation.

Not Every Relationship Is Meant to Stay the Same
Learning the difference between growing together, growing apart, and letting go with wisdom.
One of the hardest parts of healing is realizing that not every relationship grows with you. Some relationships become stronger, some become strained, and some simply become different.
How do we know when a relationship is experiencing normal growing pains and when it's revealing a deeper pattern?
In this episode we explore:
Why change creates pressure in relationships
The difference between conflict and unhealthy patterns
Healthy repair versus repeated cycles
Biblical wisdom about truth, peace and discernment
Questions to help you evaluate relationships honestly
This episode is educational and reflective. It is not therapy, legal advice, or pastoral counseling.

When Healing Changes Your Relationships
Why your growth can make other people uncomfortable and what to do about it.
One of the most unexpected parts of healing is realizing that your relationships don't always change with you. As you grow, set healthier boundaries and begin speaking more honestly, some relationships become stronger.
Others become strained.
That doesn't automatically mean you're doing something wrong. It also doesn't automatically mean every relationship should end.
In today's episode we'll explore:
why healing changes relationships dynamics
why some people celebrate your growth while others resist it.
The difference between discomfort and dysfunction
What Ephesians 4 teaches about speaking truth in love
Questions to help you discern whether a relationship is growing or simply reacting to change.

Forgiveness Does Not Always Mean Reconciliation
How to release resentment without reopening the door to repeated harm.
Many Christian women have been taught that forgiveness means restoring access, rebuilding trust or returning to a relationship exactly as it was.
But forgiveness, reconciliation and trust are not the same thing.
In this episode, we explore:
Why forgiveness can feel emotionally complicated
The difference between forgiveness and reconciliation
Why trust requires evidence
How boundaries can coexist with compassion
What Scripture does and does not require
How to release the desire for revenge without denying the harm
Questions to consider before reopening a relationship
This episode combines psychology education, biblical reflection and personal experience. It is not therapy, legal advice or pastoral counseling.

Peace Isn't the Absence of Problems
Many of us believe peace comes after life gets easier. After the bills are paid. After the relationship improves. After the diagnosis changes. After the children come back. After the grief ends.
But what if biblical peace isn't something we find after the storm?
What if it's something God develops within us while we're still walking through it?
In today's episode, we're talking about the difference between temporary relief and lasting peace, what psychology teaches us about uncertainty, and how faith invites us to trust God even when the outcome remains unknown.

You Can't Heal What You Keep Defending
Have you ever caught yourself explaining away someone's behavior... or your own?
"He didn't mean it."
"That's just how I am."
"I've always been this way."
Sometimes those statements are true and sometimes they are defenses that keep us from asking harder questions. In this episode, we explore why healing often begins when we stop defending unhealthy patterns and become curious enough to examine them honestly.

The Story You're Telling Yourself May Be Keeping You Stuck
Healing begins by examining the narratives we've accepted about ourselves. We explore some of those narratives in this episode and discuss it's possible affects. We consider a resolve where we replace the lies with the truth and walk in our true identity.

Why Starting Again Feels Harder After 40
Starting again after 40 can feel heavier because we remember previous disappointment, unfinished goals and broken promises to ourselves.
In this episode, we discuss:
* Why consistency is not always a strategy problem
* The difference between self-efficacy and self-esteem
* Practical barriers versus internal beliefs
* Rebuilding self-trust through manageable actions
* Dating after divorce and trusting your judgment
* Philippians 3:12–14 in context
* Moving forward without denying the past
Psychology-supported: Self-efficacy concerns our belief in our ability to perform a particular behavior. It can affect motivation and persistence, but it does not explain every setback.
Biblically grounded: Philippians 3:12–14 concerns Paul’s continued pursuit of Christ. It is not a guarantee of general success or an instruction to erase painful memories.
Personal reflection: I am a psychology student and a woman in therapy sharing what I am learning. This episode is educational and reflective, not therapy or clinical advice.

I’m Starting Again: What the Last Month Taught Me About Healing, Stability and Showing Up
I’ve been away from social media for about a month. I didn’t leave because I stopped caring about this community. I needed time to become stable enough to return.
In this episode, I’m talking honestly about starting again, the difference between disappearing and intentionally pausing, and why consistency means something different to me now.
We’ll also discuss what psychology can tell us about avoidance, what it cannot tell us about every personal situation, and why Lamentations 3 reminds me that hope can exist in the middle of pain, not only after life becomes easy.
This is not therapy or clinical advice. I’m a psychology student, a woman in therapy, and someone learning how to apply biblical truth to real life alongside this community.
