Painful memories of its family sang a song of sorrow to the calf. Sweet memories of the deep grunts and mooing from the other cows and bulls brought more sorrow. Singing birds and the rustling of grass echoed in its ears. The beauty before the calf could not subdue the longing for the lost herd. "
