Welcome to the Guitar Domination podcast. I`m your host, Dan Thorpe, and I specialise in teaching the over 40`s and those learning guitar later on in life…how to play the beautiful fingerpicking and strumming songs they have always dreamed of while helping them with proper technique!
More enjoyment and less frustration is the Guitar Domination way!
Dan Thorpe is an RGT registered tutor and owner of the popular tuition blog, Guitar Domination in which he specialises in teaching guitarists who are learning later on in life how to play their favourite fingerpicking and strumming songs with more joy and less frustration - you will improve in less than 1 month - guaranteed.
Many guitarists pay zero attention to their breathing when playing and this has some negative ramifications on their playing in both the short and long term.
Proper, relaxed diaphragmatic breathing can help you stay focused and relax into your playing, keeping your fingers and hands (and the rest of your body) relaxed during those frustrating times, which is key to your success.
This means the muscles of the fingers, hands and arms are free of tension - and tension is the bane of most frustrated guitarists playing.
In the podcast, I take you through all the benefits of proper breathing while you play and give you a super simple exercise that will help.
Try it, you`ll make more improvements and enjoy your playing more than ever!

GDP #5 - The Critical Factors Of Learning Guitar Faster (Part 1)
In this podcast, we are discussing one of the three critical factors for your success as a guitarist. In part 1, we are talking about the importance of having a `laid-back attitude`.
This is something many guitarists don`t have and that means they are often serious about learning the guitar, don`t really enjoy much of it and often burn themselves out pretty quickly.
I first mentioned the three critical factors in an important blog post so check that out if you haven`t already.
Whatever you do, make sure you have a laid-back attitude and your ability to improve on the guitar will be better and your playing will be more enjoyable!
Listen to the podcast to find out exactly why!

GDP #4 How To Supercharge Your Strumming Patterns
Check out my latest podcast where I discuss a really simple way of making your strumming sound more interesting.
I discuss how you should vary your strumming patterns to supercharge your strumming songs, sound more musical and improve your sense of rhythm all at the same time.
This is a skill that all pro`s and so-called `naturals` do on a regular basis. The truth is, however, skills such as this have to be worked at.
I go into this concept in much more detail in the guide How To Vary The Two Most Common Strum Patterns Ever which is a completely free bonus that comes with my big strumming course, Strumming With Soul.
If you have bought the course already, just check out the bonus section to see it there.
I hope you have lots of fun with varying your strumming patterns. It sounds so good and natural when you make it a part of your playing.

GDP #3 Finding A Guitar Teacher
Welcome to the 3rd instalment of the Guitar Domination Podcast. In this podcast, we talk about finding a guitar teacher, and more specifically, if you should actually get one, how you find a good teacher and what to look out for in a teacher.
I also discuss why it is so important, in fact critical, to try out different teachers to get the most from your money. Guitar lessons are expensive and a big investment so it is so important to get the right teacher.
If you have considered getting a teacher or are struggling at the moment, this podcast can help you save a lot of time and money, so ensure you give it a listen and leave a comment letting me know what you think! I love to hear from you all!

GDP#2 Three Golden Rules of Learning Guitar Faster
There are three golden rules I go through with all students. All three of these `rules` help them to learn the guitar and improve faster - they will help you too.
The rules are suitable for all guitarists no matter how long you have played for.
If you follow these rules then you will certainly learn and improve your guitar skills faster - I guarantee it.

GDP#1 A Big Reason Why Modern Day Guitarists Struggle and What You Can Do About It
Welcome to the very first Guitar Domination Podcast. I`m Dan Thorpe, and I want to tell you about a modern day guitar playing epidemic. It is one that most guitarists aren`t aware of and one that will be sure to slow down your playing if you are guilty of it.
Most guitarists actually don`t listen when they play and this massively holds them back. In this podcast I explain why it happens and how to prevent it.
Have a listen to make sure you don`t commit this mistake and if you do, follow the advice I give you and you will be okay - in fact you will be better than okay, you will be in a better position than most guitarists these days.
