Richie Cartwright
This week we're joined by none other than @richiecartwright_ (https://www.instagram.com/richiecartwright_/). An entrepreneur and founder, Richie's mission is to end the stigma around men’s binge eating 💪⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having never considered himself to be someone with an eating disorder, in his late teens Richie found himself turning to Google, and online communities. However, he soon found himself asking 'where are all the men'? This is something which affects not just gals, but guys too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Richie and his co-founder started Fella to help men tackle binge eating. Fella is a community-driven digital health platform: software to guide you through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), supported by other men going through the same thing.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He says 'millions of men struggle with binge eating, but it's all in silence — their stories are nowhere to be found. That’s why I’m determined to share mine'.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We had a fascinating chat with Richie and hope that we are able to help spread awareness of all the amazing work he and his team are doing with Fella. This episode dives into a serious topic but we hope in a sensitive way that is accessible for all.
Trigger warning: this episode discusses a sensitive topic which some people may find difficult to listen to.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Vinny Coyle
This week we’re coming at you with added jazz hands! Check out tomorrow’s episode as we’re joined by an old friend and West End performer Vinny Coyle!
A Football ⚽️ loving, mans man from Bracknell, Vinny isn’t your typical West End performer. After pursing both his major passions of football and theatre, and after starring alongside Gee and Matt in @southhillpark (https://www.instagram.com/southhillpark/) ‘s 2006 Christmas pantomime - Cinderella (which many would consider to be his career peak) - it was theatre which eventually won his heart.
Vinny took the plunge feet first into the acting world and trained at the leading conservative for performing arts, Arts Educational Schools, London, before making his debut in Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre, London. Since then, he has toured the UK with Miss Saigon and most recently Phantom of the Opera and also returning to Les Misérables: The Staged Concert.
An impressive resume for a guy so young... He attests a lot of this to luck, which glosses over the insane amount of talent this guy has. We talk about his path, following his dream and the gruelling life that is acting. SPOILER ALERT🚨 it’s definitely not all jazz hands and step ball changes.
Grab your Interval drinks and ice cream now as you’ll want to listen to this one all the way through. Enjoy!

Alice-May Purkiss
This week we're 'banging on about bangers' with Alice-May Purkiss.
Alice describes herself as a writer, creator and marketing nerd based in London. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 when she was 26. Hearing the words "you have cancer" changed her life immeasurably, but not necessarily for the worst.
Since her diagnosis, Alice has become a trustee for @coppafeelpeople (https://www.instagram.com/coppafeelpeople/), taken part in campaigns for @girlvscancer (https://www.instagram.com/girlvscancer/) , published her first book ‘Life, Lemons and Melons’ and launched her podcast @afterthoughts34 (https://www.instagram.com/afterthoughts34/). After Thoughts explores the stories of what happens after a cancer diagnosis and their second series (which launched yesterday!) is sponsored by @teenage_cancer (https://www.instagram.com/teenage_cancer/). Alongside co-host Toby Peach, Alice also co-founded and runs Beyond Arts, a community interest company which aims to aims to amplify the voices of young people who have experienced cancer.
Having both had a parent with cancer, this is a topic very close to our hearts and one we’ve been keen to discuss since launching the podcast. We loved chatting to Alice about everything she’s achieved and think you’ll love it too!

Mark Bittlestone
This week we welcome our very first guest, Mark Bittlestone. In his own words, Mark is a semi professional comedian, unemployed teacher and nano TikToker.
We discuss how Mark ventured into the world of comedy, fearing failure but going after things anyway, and the graft that involved in creating a seat for yourself at the table. Mark acknowledges his privilege as a cis-white-gay man, the role gender plays in comedy as well as the affect of micro aggressions and the need for having proper representation and role models. He also tells us how he was fired from his teaching job after bunking year 7 parents evening in favour of going to the World Cup in Japan... What a man, “albeit 1/2 of one...I am gay after all”.
We hope you enjoy the episode!

Positivity, Pest Control and... Pants
Guess who's back, back again...
In August we took a 3 week podcasting hiatus which accidentally turned into 3 months. Woops.
We now find ourselves back in lockdown but fear not friends, we'll be bringing you a weekly episode of the Guy and a Gal pod to keep you entertained! This series will be brought to you by the medium of Zoom thanks to these weird and wonderful times. We know the sound quality of this episode isn't fantastic... bear with us as we follow Fatima's lead and retrain for a new career in editing.
We've kickstarted Series 2 with, very honestly, a bit of a chinwag. Listen to us catching up, discussing the positives we've managed to take out of 2020, and Matt's visit from Pest Control. Enjoy!

Adulting
Ever have the panic when someone calls for the responsible adult in the room... and realise it’s you?
This week we’re discussing all the trials and tribulations of adulthood. We talk about all the things we probably should know by now... but don’t. Why does leg hair grow back? Why is there always more washing? Does anyone really know how their taxes work?
If you are similarly baffled by these nuances of adult life then strap in and give us a listen. P.S. no apologies for the amount of sweat-rences (references to sweat) in this episode... it was 35c ok? Repeat after me - I - am - an - adult. Lovely. Enjoy!

Fake it til you make it
This week we're talking about imposter syndrome. That negative inner voice that says you shouldn’t be here, you’re not good enough, you’re going to get found out. Let’s face it, we all have had our moments - at work, school, dates. We considered ourselves imposters in the podcasting world. But here we are.
We spend this episode talking about why you shouldn't let your doubts stop you from giving things a go, and how, when you do, it can actually be pretty liberating! As always we're also answering the questions you want to know from a Guy and a Gal's perspective. Do guys fall harder than girls? Listen in to find out. Enjoy!

Dating for dummies
This week we tackle the big D - dating - and laugh ourselves silly in the process at some of our dating disasters. Ever wondered when you should text back? When to go in for the kill? Is ghosting ok... or is it cowardly? Us too! But according to buzzfeed we’re dating pros. So that’s that one solved then. Now just to find a boyfriend ...

Careers, comfort zones and coming out
We’re back with ep 3 and this week we cover A LOT of ground. Our plan was to talk about jobs and careers... but in typical fashion we went slightly off piste and ended up covering everything from our very first jobs, what’s shaped our jobs today, stereotypes in the workplace, to who’s inspired us... all the way to big life milestones like coming out and having parents with cancer. We wanted to cover all the ground important to us without being too heavy... we hope you enjoy !

Where did you think you'd be at 27?
In the second episode of the podcast we're talking about where we thought we'd be in the run up to becoming 30... and where we're actually at. Safe to say we were pretty far off. But what does success actually look like in your twenties?
Matt tells us about his future plans for a fully automated boujee farm shop, we practice our game show voices and discuss public toilet etiquette. What a treat.... enjoy!
