Karen Doyle on community, respecting your own capability, life as an experience and advocacy for the things we love.
This episode is with non other than the matriarch and one of the original founders of the swimming community at Seaford. You will love this episode especially if you are a Seafordian. What struck me when I re listed to our conversation was how honest, direct and un apologetically herself Karen was, a quality of knowing thyself only years and living life can bring. We talk about what it was like for Karen to grow up with Port Philip bay as her back yard, the forming of the Seaford community in all its diversity and wonderful individuals, safety and respecting your own capability in the water, the total support water offers, life as an experience we are fortunate have, advocating and standing up for the things we love, her journey in creative pursuits and arts and so much more. Without further delay, here is the conversation with Karen Doyle.

Karen Mulholland on swimming for healing, showing up despite resistance…and tumble turns.
Episode 5 of the Half Mermaid podcast takes us to Benalla where the stay with family for a few days presented the wonderful opportunity and gift of the conversation you are about to hear. Karen is such a gorgeous human, and I am grateful she is not only family and a trusted friend, but also someone I have looked to as a role model, for her integrity and strength through difficult times and her persistence in paving her own way as an small business owner and entrepreneur. We talk experience over perfection, about how swimming helped her body heal post cancer treatment, how place and time in water bond us with past generations, the meditative state swimming can induce, overcoming internal resistance, and her passion, quilting, which is now a blooming business. I hope you enjoy the conversation.

The fourth episode of the Half Mermaid podcast is an absolute treasure of a conversation. I loved talking with Maryse Meale, a wonderful human I am grateful to have met in the Seaford swimming community. We talk about so many real things: What pulls us to the water, how the water releases what the body holds on to, body image, community, tips for cold water swimming and so much more.
