Hand to Sky is a real-life, heart-to-heart podcast hosted by D-Y and her daughter (Sky).
The show explores life from both sides — the grown perspective and the kid perspective — with honesty, laughs, questions, and love. It’s a space where kids get a voice, parents really listen, and nobody has to pretend.
From everyday moments to deeper conversations, Hand to Sky is about connection, growth, and raising confident kids while learning out loud together. One convo at a time. 💕🎙️
💎 Gentle not WEAK
In this episode of Hand to Sky, we’re back from our little summer podcast vacation and catching up on life lately. 🎙️💎 We talk about Sky getting ready to turn 10, and the advice she has for a soon-to-be 9-year-old… or lack of advice 🤣 DY drops some advice for moms of soon to be 9-year-olds, heading into 4th grade, and what’s been happening with Sky’s Stuff.
A new question segment takes us somewhere unexpected as we talk about what it means for a child to feel safe, and why being a parent or trusted adult doesn’t automatically make someone a safe person. It’s one of those conversations that starts light, wanders a little, gets real for a minute, and finds its way right back to the fun. 💕

For families navigating grief with children, don’t be afraid to try grief therapy/counseling. Organizations like the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG) and Rainbows for All Children offer helpful, age-appropriate guidance. We also encourage culturally mindful conversations around loss, such as resources from Eluna’s discussion on grief in Black communities, which center healing within community and tradition.

Welcome to Hand to Sky: Can we talk? | Experiment 01
Welcome to Hand to Sky—a mother and daughter podcast centered on real conversations, shared wisdom, and creating space for kids to be heard.
In Experiment 01, we introduce ourselves—Dynasty (you can call me D-Y) and my 9-year-old daughter Sky—and share a few fun facts, a little about our family dynamic, and what brought this podcast to life.
We talk about what “the game” means to both of us, why this podcast is meant to be an open and safe space, and why allowing children to have a voice matters—at home and beyond. We also touch on gentle parenting, what it looks like in real life, and the importance of learning how to speak up for yourself with confidence and respect.
This first episode is our starting point—Experiment 01—where we begin learning out loud, talking honestly, and setting the tone for what’s to come.
We’d love to continue the conversation with you.
