Should Leyla Start a Bicep OnlyFans? Happily Distracted by “The Double Lives of Suburban Wives”
On the Happily Distracted™ Podcast, Leyla Phillip and her sister, Monya, bring their ADHD humor and unfiltered sisterly banter to HBO Max’s reality series The Double Lives of Suburban Wives—where suburban moms and wives create adult content, often on OnlyFans, and face the fallout when their secrets come out. Some lose jobs, some gain millions of subscribers, and some find themselves explaining their double lives to their families, churches, and communities. Leyla gets happily distracted in real time by one very important question: Could her swoll biceps have their own OnlyFans account? Meanwhile, she and Monya discuss the women’s natural, “girl next door” looks, the husbands Leyla affectionately calls “Missouri husbands,” and whether audiences are more drawn to everyday beauty than fantasy aesthetics. They also explore how a husband’s support might change when the money starts rolling in. Monya raises the bigger questions: Is it fair to reveal family secrets on national television? How much of the wives’ distress over being exposed—or facing church expectations—is genuine, performative, or some combination of both? And what happens when the consequences of a public storyline extend beyond the person telling it? Along the way, the sisters get into sisterhood, confidence, standing by your choices, not shocking your loved ones for a storyline, and why you should invest your earnings. Naturally, there are also bicep-pic jokes, a little mental-strength talk, and a detour into home decor. This episode is spicier than Trinidadian pepper sauce. Need more ADHDistraction? Fantasizing about Retirement
On this episode of Happily Distracted, sisters Monya and Leyla Phillip trade ADHD humor, sisterhood lessons, and very different visions of retirement. At 55, Monya is already thinking about what she wants everyday life to look like when work is no longer part of it—staying active, traveling, reading, working out, spending time with friends, and finding purpose without accidentally turning her passions into another job. Leyla and Monya compare their parents’ very different retirements and talk about the importance of staying engaged, avoiding boredom, and figuring out what makes life meaningful after work. Of course, the conversation gets happily distracted. Leyla shares her latest coffee obsession, they debate reality TV and Couples Therapy, discuss the oversharing of children’s stories on social media, and talk about learning to accept mediocre days and “visiting the middle.” There’s also plenty of aging pop-culture confusion, imaginary superpowers, and a little locker-room hygiene and safety policing because apparently retirement isn’t the only thing we’re fantasizing about. So, are you ready to be work-free like Monya, or are you still loving the grind and the freshly ground coffee—like Leyla? Let us know in the comments! Need more ADHDistraction? Anticipatory Anxiety, Flossing, and Other Life Distractions
Have you had anticipatory anxiety while waiting for the next episode of your favorite ADHD podcast? Well, here it is! This week on the Happily Distracted™ Podcast, Monya returns to talk about what’s been happily distracting her, including binging episodes of Ride or Die. Meanwhile, Leyla admits she spends more time scrolling YouTube and Netflix thumbnails and watching trailers than actually watching the shows calling it a time-saver, while Monya wonders if it’s quietly destroying everyone’s attention span. They also dive into Leyla’s anticipatory anxiety around plans, travel, movies, and even nature, and how she’s been using breathwork techniques from counseling to help regulate it. Along the way, they discuss ADHD-friendly focusing tools like captions, home workouts with Tonal and Pilates, why more women should lift weights, a misunderstanding between the sisters that led to an apology, and the surprisingly life-changing discovery that daily flossing makes dental cleanings dramatically easier. If you’re looking for an ADHD podcast with mental health humor, honest conversations about ADHD in women, and practical ways to manage anticipatory anxiety, this episode is for you. ADHD in Marriage: The Funny Truth About Loving Someone with ADHD
This week on the Happily Distracted™ Podcast, Leyla is flying solo—without Monya (gasp!)—and welcomes her husband, Dan, for a hilarious and refreshingly honest conversation about ADHD in marriage. Living with ADHD can make relationships equal parts challenging, frustrating, and incredibly funny. Leyla and Dan share the real-life moments that come with navigating adult ADHD, from organization struggles and anxiety to Leyla’s rodent-related ARFID and her uncanny ability to misplace…well, everything. As Dan reveals, she recently left both her laptop and phone out in the rain—despite being someone who genuinely loves organization. As Leyla admits, “I have rules for everyone but myself.” Together, they explore what makes an ADHD relationship work, why patience and humor matter, and how focusing on ADHD’s strengths can be just as important as managing its challenges. Dan shares how learning to see Leyla’s creativity, energy, and unique perspective has helped them build a stronger marriage. The couple also swaps favorite “happy distractions.” Dan is hooked on Bruce Lee videos about choosing your response and finding inner peace, creepy deep-sea ocean documentaries, and satisfying “Karen gets what they deserve” clips. Meanwhile, Leyla talks about discovering beautiful free and low-cost parks and trails around Annapolis during a recent staycation—proof that even a self-proclaimed indoor girl can find a little peace in nature. And yes…for everyone who loved Episode 2, Leyla proudly flashes the gorgeous ring that had listeners talking. Whether you’re the one with ADHD or you’re married to someone who is, this episode is packed with laughter, relatable stories, and an honest look at what it takes to make ADHD in marriage not just work, but thrive. Trinidadian Pepper Sauce & Sisterly Banter
Welcome back to Happily Distracted! This week, Leyla Phillip and her sister, Monya, prove that no conversation stays on track for long and that’s exactly the point. The sisters lean into ADHD humor and life distractions while taking a closer look at their ‘70s childhood with their Trinidadian father. From his legendary Trinidadian pepper sauce to his unwavering focus on academics (not friends!), he definitely brought his own unique flavor to the family. And you know what? So did his pepper sauce. Monya tried it again after 45 years and was shocked to discover it isn’t just spicy, it actually makes food taste better. Who knew? They also share their theory that culture is often passed down through mothers, which may explain why it took both of them this long to appreciate their dad’s beloved pepper sauce. Leyla shares her personal goal of reaching five pull-ups by embracing the in-between steps it takes to get there. The sisters also discuss a politician refusing to remove a tattoo linked to Nazi symbolism, before wrapping up with sleep tweaks, Reddit reading, Trazodone, and the universal frustration of husbands who somehow sleep through everything. France, Bread, Pickpockets & Being Happily Distracted by Things We Hate
Welcome back to Happily Distracted, your favorite ADHD podcast. On today’s episode, sisters Monya and Leyla Phillip delve into Adhd humor to share their favorite positive distractions, starting with Leyla’s obsession with returning to France, researching pickpockets, and loving French cafes, style, and BREAD. Leyla describes losing six pounds and feeling less inflammation and arthritis while eating freely in Paris, which prompted a personal journey into avoiding food additives and preservatives and choosing simpler, origin-labeled foods and local preservative-free bakeries at home. They recount a honeymoon subway mishap where Leyla was briefly separated from her husband and stayed hyper-aware of pickpocketing. And then the conversation shifts to the things they love to hate that are somehow still happily distracting them like graduations, brunch, and mandatory workplace training. And if you feel like you’re missing out on reality tv this time around, don’t worry - the sisters promise to dig into Welcome to Plathville next time. Need more ADHDistraction? Curated Chaos: Sisters on Scrolling, Comparison, and the Algorithm Rabbit Hole
Welcome back to Happily Distracted, your favorite ADHD podcast. This week, Leyla and Monya riff about life distractions—especially endless scrolling—and how curated “perfect” families, trad-wives content, CEOs-with-5am-routines, and beauty influencers can fuel comparison in viewers, even when it’s just entertainment. They connect this to algorithms, comment-section sadness, and keeping up with “thousands of Joneses.” And then there’s the whole Manosphere side of the coin as well, and you know that they get into that too. None of these things feel like real life distractions, but here we are. Also, Leyla opens up about not being cute when pregnant while Monya brags that she looked gooood during her own pregnancy. Pregnant trad-wives have NOTHIN on pregnant Monya. Oh, and Leyla bit a girl’s toe once. This episode is pretty much feral, so you should give it a listen! Need more ADHDistraction? Grifters, Reality TV and Other Life Distractions
Welcome back to Happily Distracted, your favorite ADHD podcast. If you’ve ever seen an influencer with a Birkin bag telling you to DM them the word “wealth”, you’ve seen a grifter at work. And today, we’ll prepare you for all of their BS and more. On this episode of the Happily Distracted podcast, sisters Leyla Phillip and Monya jump from Leyla’s fascination with cartel leader “Elcho/El Mencho” and recent violence near Puerto Vallarta to a larger discussion of the “Tony Soprano Effect” and why power draws people in. They then shift into Reality TV, critiquing a new Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Amanda, a self-proclaimed “money coach,” as an example of an ultimate online grifter—someone who’s selling expensive retreats and courses without credentials, using influencer buzzwords, limited spots, and MLM-style tactics. They offer red-flag phrases that every grifter loves to use while urging listeners to do the real work, ask questions, and not chase too-good-to-be-true promises. Get that Grifter gone! Tweaking Reality (and Yes, the Housewives Too) Sobriety Style
Hot take: most things in your life don’t need a full overhaul… they just need some tweaking. In this episode, Leyla and Monya unpack their current obsession with “tweaking”—and before anyone gets concerned, Leyla is still in the sisterhood of sobriety. We're not talking about that kind of tweaking, okay? This is about taking what already works and making it better, funnier, and way more interesting. From Peter Attia’s longevity philosophy, to lifting heavier, to falling down a rabbit hole of TikTok DJs remixing songs into something weirdly addictive—this is about small shifts that completely change the experience. Monya talks about beautifully reworked hotels that feel brand new without starting from scratch, while Leyla fully leans into the magic of a good mashup. And then they ask the question no one asked—but everyone should have: What if The Real Housewives… was actually good again? Instead of the same recycled drama, they imagine a version with humor, connection, and women who actually like each other (groundbreaking). It’s equal parts ridiculous and… kind of makes sense. Somehow, it all circles back to real life—recovery, growth, and appreciating the people who show up when it matters. Because sometimes, the difference between stuck and happy… is just a small bit of tweaking. Need more ADHDistraction? Check me out and come say hi! Comedians, Serial Killers and MomTok
This week, Leyla and Monya share what’s been “happily distracting” them. The distractions include YouTube videos about European pop culture, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" (aka MomTok) and how it’s better than “The Real Housewives”, and documentaries about Eddie Murphy and Aileen Wuornos (respectively). Monya says her main focus this week is recommitting to better sleep after returning to work, explaining how watching TV used to help quiet her mind. They also debate group vacation planning, complain about streaming services releasing episodes weekly, and rave about Spanx Air Essentials. Til Death Do Us Distract with Dan Caton
Meet the man behind the content queen: it’s Leyla’s husband, Dan Caton! With the hesitancy of a very smart husband who doesn’t want to say the wrong thing, Dan talks about what it’s like being married to Leyla’s ADHD brain and all the missing keys and whirlwind topic changes that come with it. They share early dating moments that revealed Leyla’s chaos, including her pandemic-era bottle-collecting obsession that filled her condo, and how Dan learned to adapt (mostly by relocating to another room). Leyla also tells the story of when Dan proposed and she said yes… just not to the ring. Play The Whole Tape with Just Joe is Fine
It’s the very first episode of Happily Distracted! Yay! Much like it took Leyla two years to get this podcast going, it took her gym-buddy and guest, Joe (Just Joe is Fine from TikTok/YouTube) the same amount of time to earn his certification in addictions counseling and human services. And he’s planning on continuing on to an advanced degree too! But he wasn’t always in such a good spot. Joe shares his story of heroin and substance abuse and his journey to getting clean. And Leyla shares her own cocaine addiction story and the family intervention that kicked off her road to recovery. They also talk TikTok-shop and share the origin of Joe’s car-video format, the weird DMs he receives and how humor can be used in service to sobriety. Happy Distractions, Housewives Rules, and Sisterhood Lessons with Monya Phillip
Meet Leyla’s chief advocate, voice of reason and super-powered-lawyer sister, Monya! Get to know her because she’ll be coming around a lot! This playful “Happily Distracted” chat quickly becomes a deep-dive into their shared obsession with reality TV (especially Bravo’s Real Housewives). They joke about how parenting and modern distractions hurt attention spans and replaced Monya’s once-constant fiction reading with easier “in-and-out” TV. And with several Housewives references as their foundation, they lay out the key rules of a true blue, sisterhood or friendship. Also covered are Leyla’s anti-bullying instincts and school play stardom. We promise - this episode is VERY distracting. Need more ADHDistraction? Check me out and come say hi!
