Happy Friday Denver : Take the Bus, Loser

It’s been a good ride, Mile High! But it’s time for one of us to move on down the road, and the remaining two to aim bigger. We close a chapter of the show today, but that doesn’t mean we won’t still give you all the goofy news-ish content you crave to kick off your weekend in style. Here we go: *Cocaine sharks! That’s right, cocaine sharks! In something out of an episode of Miami Vice, waters off of Florida are contaminated with cocaine, which has the sharks all messed up. Who would win in a fight: Cocaine Bear or Cocaine Shark? Probably depends on the venue… Full story here (https://www.ndtv.com/feature/cocaine-sharks-may-be-feasting-on-drugs-dumped-off-the-coast-of-florida-experts-4232950). *Jon gives a rundown of the recent Punk Rock Saves Lives Festival at Ratio Beerworks and tells a heartwarming story about a mosh pit. *Friend of the show Sarah Christine had her van robbed and all her equipment stolen in a matter of 5 minutes. You can kick her a few bucks to help her out here (https://www.gofundme.com/f/all-of-their-band-feet-was-stolen-yesterday?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer). *Jon shares a cherished baseball memory as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the George Brett pine tar game. You can read a retrospective of it here (https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/38059396/george-brett-pine-tar-game-40th-anniversary-hall-fame). *Are you a renter? Then you’ve got extra rights now! We break them down for you, and you can see the full thing for yourself here (https://kdvr.com/news/local/renters-will-have-a-few-extra-rights-starting-in-august/). *Three minutes is all it took for another round of vouchers to get an e-bike to be claimed. If you didn’t get one, walk your butt to the bus stop, we guess. Read more about it here (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/it-only-took-3-minutes-for-all-of-denver-s-e-bike-vouchers-to-be-claimed/ar-AA1emfd4). *Twitter rebranded suddenly to “X.” And they want to do your banking for you! Yeah, ok. More about this whole fiasco here (https://www.businessinsider.com/history-behind-elon-musk-x-brand-that-may-replace-twitter-2023-7). *A prominent civil rights lawyer is likely to have his house become a historical landmark. Cool! More about that here (https://www.denver7.com/news/local-news/a-very-powerful-symbol-civil-rights-lawyer-likely-to-have-denver-home-honored-as-historic-landmark). *R.I.P. to Sinead O’Connor. You weren’t appreciated enough in your time, but we pay our tributes. More about her can be found here (https://kdvr.com/news/nationalworld-news/singer-sinead-oconnor-dead-at-56-irish-media-reports/). *We talk about cool stuff to do including The Grawlix, Underground Music Fest, Buffalo Bill Days, and more.
