Hard Hat and Heart is a raw, real podcast about working hard, loving deeply, and keeping faith through life’s chaos. From the mine site to motherhood, it’s about resilience, purpose, and the heart behind the hard hat.
If it’s not grown it’s mined , it’s all around us and no one knows
Mining is everywhere—beneath the roads we drive, inside the buildings we live and work in, and behind so much of what we depend on every single day. Yet most people never stop to think about where any of it comes from.
In this episode of Hard Hat & Heart, I’m talking about why mining remains hidden in plain sight, the outdated perceptions that still surround our industry, and why those of us in mining need to do a better job telling our own story.
You don’t have to work in mining to depend on it. You already do.
Mining is modern. Mining is necessary. And mining has a whole lot of heart.

The Heart in Mining
More Than Rock. More Than a Job. A Family.
When most people think about mining, they think about the rock, the equipment, the dust, and the long hours.
But I think they’re missing the best part.
The heart of mining has never been found in the ground—it’s found in the people.
The people who show up before the sun comes up. The ones who face hard things every day and do them anyway. The ones who look out for each other, lend a hand without being asked, share what they’ve learned, and remind us that no one makes it through this industry alone.
This episode is a reminder that while we may make our living moving rock, what we’re really building is something much greater: trust, resilience, friendships, and a family that extends far beyond the mine gate.
Because the strongest thing this industry has ever produced isn’t rock.
It’s people.

The people who do hard things
In this episode of Hard Hat & Heart, I’m stepping back from the equipment and the regulations to talk about what truly makes the mining industry special: the people.
The men and women who show up before the sun rises, push through challenges, solve problems, and quietly carry responsibilities that most will never see. They choose hard every single day—not for recognition, but because that’s who they are.
This episode is a tribute to the grit, resilience, humility, and heart of the people behind the hard hats, and a reminder that the greatest resource in any mine isn’t what’s in the ground—it’s the people willing to do the work.

Unscripted EP1 : Boots on Walls Down
Unscripted is a raw side series of Hard Hat and Heart — honest conversations about life.
This episode is exactly what the title says — unscripted.
Just honest conversation about the things that hurt, the things that help, and the realities of carrying responsibility while trying to stay human through it all.
From leadership and mining to motherhood, mental load, burnout, communication, and vulnerability, this is less about having perfect answers and more about being willing to talk about the real stuff out loud.
Somewhere between grit and grace, we figure it out as we go.

It’s the little things
In this episode of Hard Hat and Heart, I talk about the little things.
In mining, it’s often the smallest issues that lead to the biggest failures. And in life, it’s no different.
But the little things don’t just break us down. They can build us back up too.
This episode is a reminder to pay attention, slow down, and give yourself grace when things feel heavy.

The people behind the hard hats
In this episode of Hard Hat and Heart, I talk about the people behind the hard hats.
Mining is more than rock and equipment. It’s skilled work, real responsibility, and people who take pride in showing up every day.
But even in an industry built on strength, there are days that feel heavy.
This episode is a reminder that it’s okay to feel that — and to give yourself grace while you keep going.
If it’s not grown, it’s mined. And this is about the people who make it happen.

If it’s not grown it’s mined:Family beneath the surface
In this episode of Hard Hat and Heart, I share my why behind mining.
The mining industry is more impactful than most people realize. If it is not grown, it is mined, from the roads we drive on to the infrastructure that holds our communities together. It is foundational to everyday life.
But beyond the material, there is something deeper.
There is family beneath the surface. A tight knit community that stretches across states but somehow still feels small. People who show up. People who care. People who understand strength, responsibility, and what it means to have your hand in the dirt.
This episode is about the impact of mining and the heart of the people behind it.

Pressure Reveals the Cracks
In mining, pressure doesn’t create cracks — it exposes the fracture lines that were already there.
The same is true in leadership, motherhood, and faith.
In this episode of Hard Hat and Heart™, Alyssa explores what pressure reveals beneath the surface in the workplace, at home, and within ourselves. From highwalls to hard conversations, this is about responsibility, resilience, and learning not to ignore the warning signs.
Because cracks aren’t weakness.
They’re information.
And reinforcement is strength.
Hard hat optional. Heart required.
