Your Father Knows What You Need | Matthew 6:25–34
Your Father Knows What You Need Matthew 6:25–34 Worry is caring so much about concerns in this world that we lose perspective on life and lack trust in God. Worry is the sin of distrusting the promise and providence of God. Corrie ten Boom so wisely said, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of sorrows; it empties today of strength.” 1. Consider Your Father (vss. 25–26) God is not just your Master—He is your Father. • He owns everything • He controls everything • He lovingly provides for His children 2. Consider the Futility of Worry (vss. 27–32) The English term worry comes from an old German word meaning to strangle, or choke. Worry doesn’t work—and it doesn’t reflect faith. • It cannot change your future (v. 27) • It distracts from God’s provision (vv. 28–29) • It imitates unbelief (vss. 30–32) There is a difference between: • Struggling with anxiety • Surrendering to unbelieving worry God meets the struggler—but calls us away from distrust. 3. Commit to God’s Priorities (vss. 33–34) When you pursue God first, He takes responsibility for your needs. • Seek His kingdom (His rule in your life) • Seek His righteousness (holy living) • Trust Him for daily provisions When God is first in your life, everything else finds its proper place. • Focus on today’s obedience • Trust God with tomorrow’s needs What is one way I will seek God first this week? TODAY’S DECISION What do I need to surrender to God today? ☐ A fear ☐ A situation ☐ A future concern ☐ Control I need to release Write it here: “Your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.” (Matthew 6:32)
