God's Mission in Christ - Ephesians 1:3-10 - October 4, 2026
God's Mission in Christ
In Ephesians 1:3-10, we see God's mission in Christ be revealed in all of its beauty and wonder. God takes our eyes off ourselves and our desire for self-glory and lifts our eyes to him and his glory- all to the praise of his glorious grace. It is this vision of God's plan for us in Christ that shifts our guilt-driven evangelistic efforts to grace-driven desire to share our deepest joy and treasure.
But, we don't start with mission. We start with God's plan of redemption of us in Christ that existed before the foundation of the world. We have, in Christ, every spiritual blessing. Our position before him is secure in Christ.
It is from this foundation that we can live Christ-centered, missional lives that witness to the gospel, seek the joy of all nations, and operate out of confidence. God's mission in Christ is to bring us to him, and through our engagement in his mission, bring the nations to Christ- to the praise of His glorious grace.

Because of Jesus - John 14:1-14 - September 27, 2026
Because of Jesus
In John 14:1-14, Jesus’ words to his disciples give hope, assurance, and confidence. It is good for us to consider how Jesus says, “Let not your hearts be troubled…” (14:1). Do not be troubled, but have hope. How can we have hope when Jesus is going away? Answer: We have the promise that we will have the presence of Jesus: “…I will come again and will take you to myself.”
No matter what we face in this life, we have the sure promise of our Savior. He will come for us. We will be with him forever. While we wait, we have the confidence to pray and ask for help. Hope, assurance, and confidence are ours because of Jesus.

A Cross-Shaped Community - John 13:31-38 - September 20, 2026
A Cross-Shaped Community
In John 13:31-38, we see that the cross of Christ defines the glory of God. That is, it makes the glory of God visible. To see glory, we look to the cross. We also see that the cross of Christ defines our love for one another. We are to love one another “just as” Christ loved us. How did he love us? He died on the cross for us- as a sacrificial substitute in our place! We are to love another that way.
Finally, we saw that the cross of Christ defines our strength. Why strength? Because loving one another requires supernatural power. We cannot love one another like Christ loves us on our own. We need his help. We need to constantly look to, and remember, the cross of Christ.
